O Lavrador Restaurante — Restaurant in Albufeira

My friends and I arrived to this family owned restaurant 30 minutes before closing, however, once we walked in the owner immediately greeted us. We were able to choose where we would like to be seated, but because this night was windy, the owner advised us to sit somewhere warmer so we wouldn't get cold, which was very thoughtful of him. Once seated, the owner provided us with his personal favourite fish dishes, which were the bream and sea bass. My friends and I have eaten here last year and this year, on our weeks holiday. The food is very good, I love Swordfish, so had it twice this week. The lovely gentleman (he comes across as grumpy, but he isn't) who takes our orders, says they make the best chips in Albufeira, and we all agree. We also had breakfast there, it was just what was needed, he asked whether we wanted big or small, we went with small. His wife is the chef, and very friendly too. No. Just no. Based on other reviews we must have been on an off day. Very rude host, would not show a wine list (though would happily choose a wine for us) food was below average. I have never felt so awkward as a paying customer. My children were not welcome from the second we walked in. The hamburgers (kids menu) are just hamburgers, no bun. The menu appears to be based around chips. Left hungry. If you have been eating here for the last 10 years+ and do not like change then carry on....
