Had an awful experience at this restaurant. For my starter I ordered bread and olives, husband ordered prawn cocktail, my son tuna salad. Some time later the waiter came out with a garlic bread. We stated that we didn't order that and off he went. He then came back and told me I had ordered the garlic bread and I said no I ordered bread and olives. So then all starters eventually arrived present and correct. My husband's and son's starters were nice and mine was okay except for the butter was frozen hard and I tore the bread when trying to spread it. Also, the bread was served in a basket and the olives and butter were served on a tiny plate. I wasn't given a larger plate to butter my bread on so had to cope with buttering it on the corner of the saucer. The main meals then came out. My son had ordered a burger. Now, every other place I've been to, when a burger has been ordered it's come out as a pattie between bread, but not here. It was served as two patties on the side of the plate. It was also very clear they were not home made as they were uniform in size and shape. My son took a couple of bites and realised it was undercooked as it was mushy in the middle. We asked for it to be taken away as my son had been put off eating. My husband had ordered a ham, cheese and mushroom omelette. That came out sans mushrooms and was also clearly undercooked in the middle as it was still very runny. When we came to pay we expected them to have taken the hamburger meal off but they hadn't. So my husband asked the waitress to do this explaining that our son hadn't eaten it due to it not being cooked properly. She huffed and puffed a bit but finally agreed to revise the bill. However when she came back she started arguing that we should have asked for the burger to be cooked through! In all our years on this earth neither me nor my husband have ever had to ask for a burger to be treated as if it was a steak and to ask for it to be cooked properly. That should be a given. My husband then pointed out that his omelette wasn't cooked either but she wasn't listening and in fact was extremely stroppy. Anyway, we paid up but had to visit an ice cream parlour at the bottom of the hill to make sure my son had eaten something. During our two weeks in Portugal we have eaten at a different restaurant every night because there were plenty of places to choose from. With the exception of O Cantil, the food has been good and staff in all restaurants friendly and helpful. I would like to visit Portugal again it's a stunning place. But no matter how many times I return I will not be eating at this...
Read morePoor service poor food. My wife and I and our son decided to dine here, and to be honest it was awful experience. The waiter eventually came to our table explained it was his first night and he normally works in hotels buffet. He took our order and struggled to understand. He then came back with the wrong starter and when we said it's not ours came back with his notes and realised he did it wrong. My wife ordered olives with bread, not given a plate, and the next thing we knew was the mains were brought out, before the starter was finished, so they whisked her starter away. My sun ordered burger and they were clearly from frozen stock and still sushy in the middle so we sent it back but said please take it away but don't replace. My omelette didn't have all I asked for in it but I kept quiet, even that was undercooked and runny. The bill came and I refused to pay for the burger and the lady became very aggressive and rude saying in future we need to make it clear we want the burger cooked thoroughly. She reduced the bill accordingly. Such a shame really, every where else has been fab. I appreciate they are trying to make a living, but I have worked hard for my money to spend in their restaurant so expect a...

The sauce was sour and curdled fillet steak tough. Asked the waiter to take it away which he did and he offered my wife another but the sour taste was in her mouth so she declined. When Bill came they had the 22 euro for steak included I queried this and they became quite rude saying we had to pay. Eventually they relented and came back with revised bill which I was gladly willing to pay. I asked for complaints book then all hell broke loose. Chef stormed out off kitchen clearly drunk shouting obvious not happy we asked for complaints book grabbed the bill and told us to get out shouting after us. We hadn't paid the bill so got free starters wine and 1 meal. And I will still fill out complaints book online. Stay clear of this place drunk chef obnoxious waitress. All would have been fine if they didn't try charging us for the poor dish my wife had. Hope this helps in your deciding...
