Besides the regular menu, there is a vegan menu, as Jorge was getting more and more demand for it.Main course prices range from 14.90 - 24.90.
Chef Marcio Silva, is a great chef. What he prepares you could also expect in a Michelin star restaurant, only here you pay much less for it. Previously, he worked in such renowned establishments as Grande Real Santa Eulalia, Tivoli Hotel and Vila VitaPark.
In a place you wouldn't expect, the end of the Strip, with all its ugly burger restaurants, you will find this hidden gem.
Chef Marcio Silva, is an amazing chef!
Located on the 1st floor, The Market has a bar, a restaurant and a very large terrace, overlooking the sea and the Strip. Fun to watch all the (young) people walking by from upstairs.
The restaurant looks very good. Owner Jorge Mateus, who hails from Portagal North, has had the restaurant for 27 years. He is proud of it, and I can understand that! He personally greets all guests every night and makes sure everyone is not short of anything.
The service is friendly and quick.
We start with a delicious white wine (€5).
This is followed by a fantastic bruschetta (6.50 euros), with tomato, carrot, onion, caper and beetroot humus. Not only does it look amazing, it is also the tastiest bruschetta I have ever had!
Next is the main course, a delicious ravioli filled with seitan (18 euro), with a fantastic sauce of pumpkin and tomatoes. Wonderful!
And for dessert, I had a vegan cheesecake (8.90 euros) of cashew nuts with raspberries! Yummy!
I'll be honest, being at the bottom of the strip, I wasn't expecting much. But how wrong I was! One of the most delicious meals I've had in the Algarve!
An absolute must stop if you are...
Read moreExquisite. Friday night, we showed up, and Rodney, who works the door, was polite and friendly. We asked what he recommended, and my girlfriend mentioned she was in the mood for ribs. Rodney told us the ribs were delicious, he wasent wrong.
We started with a shared plate that had a bit of everything, from cheese and veggies to shrimp. It was delicious and fresh, and I was impressed. My girlfriend had the ribs, fork tender. They came off the bone easily. On the plate was a sweet yet spicey bbq sauce. The portion size was perfect. We ended up sharing her ribs because she could not finish her plate.
I had the piri piri chicken thigh. Cooked on a grill with a smokey yet lightly spiced flavor. They don't drown the meats in sauces to hide the quality. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Both the ribs and the chicken had sauces on the sides of the plate. Both dishes were delightful.
My girlfriend had a salad to go with her ribs. Lightly dressed, and I had the veggies with oregano and a hit of balsamic reduction. It was beautiful.
For drinks, I had a mohito done the local way. It was a high-quality drink. The girlfriend is a cocktail off the menu. It wasent overly sweet but flavorful. We followed up the meal with coffee and an expresso. Both were delicious.
Before we left, we were served a sweet wine called moscatel in ice glasses. It was a very nice treat.
This was the best meal we had while on vacation. This is a top-notch restaurant with wonderful service from the door to coffee. I could not be happier. Very nice atmosphere, I did not feel under dressed or rushed. Take your parents or treat yourself to this fantastic...
Read moreHighly recommend,
We had initially avoided this restaurant due to proximity to the strip, and also 4.5* on google reviews (we visited others with higher ratings).
On our second to last night we had run out of available restaurants and decided to give this a try as close to hotel and quite tired.
Wish we came sooner, service was great, and the food was the best (presentation and taste) we’ve had the entire holiday. It is fairly expensive compared to others however I feel the quality warrants this, definitely worth visiting once on a holiday as a treat perhaps.
I cannot stress enough to get the sharer starter as all of the starters are amazing and worth trying. I had the ribs main which was great, I probably could of eaten it with a. Knife and fork it was that tender the meat fell straight off the bone my only critique was it could have done with a little more of the sauce. My partner had the hamburger which she enjoyed thoroughly, do note that I have seen some reviews saying the meat was undercooked, the menu states core temp for different rarity’s so I believe they are using a meat probe and many will probably be comparing to what is actually overcooked steak.
Dessert I had the mousse and partner had the blondie, I learnt today that pepper (yes black pepper) actually goes well with chocolate mousse, sorry these were so good we forgot to take a picture.
Another note is some have said portion sizes are too small, portion sizes are of a perfectly reasonable size (see pictures) unless you eat like a horse in which case the all you can eat up the strip may be a...
