It's low season and a rainy day. Walking into Verde Maçã's warm decor was exactly what I what I needed to out of the wet and cold. I was quickly welcomed with a greeting and a smile from both the waitress and the hostess (believe she was also the owner). The braised pork ribs with a side of sweet potatoe, apples and onions is a good dish for the day. The portion was just right. The peppery sauce was tasty. Out of the 4 pieces, only 1 was my preferred fall-of-the-bone tender. The rest was slightly tough/chewy for my taste. The side could use a tad more seasoning. I love stewed onions. I was unclear if it was intentional for them to be as crunchy as it was for contrast, or that it was slightly undercooked. Unfortunately, the pleasant meal was disrupted by the pungent smell of the women's washroom. It gave that odor of a cellar that hadn't been opened in a while. The WC was not dirty. It was in fact very clean. There was no choice but to breath through my mouth and/or hold my breath. That definitely needs fixing. Pity, as rating would have...
Read moreJust pretty visual won't make restaurant work. Sorry, but no. Place has nice interior design. Very center located. Menu is very low level in comparision of the food quality you get elsewhere in Angra. We had chicken salad, that very poorely contained lettuce, boiled Fusilly pasta, grapes, orange and chicken fillet. This salad made us reconsider weather it was meant to be fruit salad- the amount of fruit had in there. Pasta was swimming in thr orange juuce. Not good combination, not enjoyable. Desert - caramel eclair- filled with greasy whipped margarine. Tastless. Sad. Good quality ingredients are essential. Good butter, good quality melting boiled cream in eclair can be so drlicios. Even mascarpone is an easy do in theese portuguese dairy fullfilled island Service was rough too- lady serving us seemed to be have very sharp, rude, unnecessary attitude. Should advice entirelly replan their menu. Place has potential which is not running...
Read moreVerde Maçã is simply the best place hands down in Terceira Island. From just going in for a coffee, to meeting the phenomenal owners, to be beautifully attended by the staff, to eating the best pastries, salads, pancakes, poached egg sandwiches, anything you want, you name it and I BET they have it in their extensively eclectic menu. I have been all around the world and the class this place has in unmeasurable. And for lovers of jazz music, this is DEFINETELY the place you would like to stop by and enjoy before you go on with exploring the beautiful island. I couldn't recommend the place more. I truly feel like home there and nothing can beat their music choice for me: normally accompanied by restrained acoustic piano, an unobtrusive rhythm section...
