This cozy spot is an absolute gem, with fabulous food, attentive service, and a calm relaxing vibe. We were able to get a table without reservations in mid-week off-season, (March) and were so surprised it wasn’t more crowded. People, you are missing out!
We enjoyed a simply unbelievable tuna ceviche, followed by stunning seared tuna and swordfish dishes. The co-owner, Beto, was a gracious and entertaining host, offering great suggestions and guidance on the menu and wine options. We had a marvelous local Pico white that Beto had aptly picked, along with a pair of tawny ports after we had enjoyed a local dessert cake. The menu is brief but with a lot of variety, and the preparation and presentations are stellar. Kudos to the chef, who is also Beto’s partner in this enterprise. Don’t miss the opportunity to have a simply amazing meal in this...
Read moreThis place is great! A fabulous wine bar serving great food, tapas style. To the non-Portuguese it might seem a bit confusing at the window, as the menu is only in Portuguese, and bafflingly it doesn’t have any wine listed! I think it’d be a lot busier if the concept and menu was explained better in the window!!
However the service was superb, explained the menu well. We had tuna ceviche and octopus stew which were both delicious. Then we had the mixed platter of local cheese and cold meats. So so good!!
We asked about wine and the chap was very obliging and I had three wines by the glass, a local white Pico which was very good, then a lovely red from the south of Portugal, followed by a lovely chilled tawny port.
Top top experience. Just deserves to be...
Read moreWe walked into this restaurant by chance and it was a wonderful surprise! The place is beautifully decorated and the wine list is very good. We were served by Beto, who we later learned is one of the restaurant's owners, along with the chef. It's just the two of them, so everything is special. We ordered a starter of tuna ceviche, which was simply delicious and fresh, and then we had a steak with mustard sauce and regional cheese, which was amazing. To finish, we had a regional dessert which I can't remember the name of, but it was the cherry on the cake, wonderful! It's a shame we discovered this place the day...
