Bem-me-quer — Restaurant in Braga

Absolutely phenomenal historical place, serving the amazing northern Portuguese cuisine at its best, with the customary warm and familial service of Minho.

To set it apart from all others, in our last visit we were having a conversation about what a cod fish dish was called and were shared the name, history and context by the host.

Every time I come to Braga, if time permits, I will want to return and there is no good reason why I wouldn't: top notch food and service for an almost symbolic price.

Following a business meeting that lasted longer than expected, we went on a quest to find a decent restaurant to eat and continue discussions. We ended up here, and decided to stay due to the nice environment we observed. We ordered a "bacalao a bras" for two which was excellent! I must note that the service was very good, and staf very polite. The brought us some starters (chease and ham) with some baked and raw bread slices. We also had a bottle of green wine, which was fantastic. Following our great dinner i tried a pudding desert which came with some lemmon ice cream! I strongly recommend...

Salty food and service. Short wine glass pours. We said no thanks to couvert up front and were still charged €4 for stale bread for two people. One of us ordered octopus, and the waiter said they would give us a half portion saying it was “too big for one person.” When the bill came, we were charged the full menu price for the half portion.
