THE ultimate TOURIST RIP-OFF experience. We entered into the restaurant because the menu looked appealing. We ordered a large bottle of water, they gave us a 1.5L plastic bottle of mineral water whilst other guests ordered the same and got a glass bottle. Fine. They served us a bread basket and some croquettes (fish croquette and meat croquette), which we didn’t order. I thought it was an amuse-bouche. Then we ordered a vegetable soup as entree, a bacalhau Braga style and roasted veal which was the day’s special. The food was ok, the bacalhau and chips which came with it were very oily. Taste wise there’s nothing bad to say about, just very average. Service was minimal. The shock came with the bill: plastic water bottle costed us 4.5€, bread basket 1€ (fine), croquettes 7.5€ for 6pieces, which we didn’t order !! Total bill was 56.20€. Unacceptable. We ate at a high end restaurant in Porto centre and only paid 45€ for the same amount of food and drinks. You can eat in a Michelin bib gourmand restaurant in Braga for a lesser amount too! Definitely don’t recommend. Sorry. I paid without any protest. We left and not even a goodbye from the staff. REPLY to owners comment: Thank you for the kind explanations. I know the difference between olive oil and oily chips. Please don’t feel offended. I repeat more precisely: in my personal opinion, the chips were too oily and I ate many chips and fries in my life. In my review, I’m sharing my negative experience. It is not a complaint. I didn’t complain to the staff when we were paying the bill as I realised the cultural difference. We were very polite. You cannot expect every customer to post only positive reviews. Again, all readers, this was MY personal (negative) experience. You can make your own. Thanks...

Have been visiting Portugal since 2012 and sampled steak all over and always keep saying never again... However this place served one of the best veal steaks cooked to perfection at medium. The flavour was delicious, my husband had the beef casserole which was also perfect. They also gave us a free Portuguese lesson at no extra cost. The staff were so friendly and the resteraunt was spotless. The house wines was also excellent that we had to order more.. Well worth a visit and we will be back with friends.. Thankyou for your...

Food is fresh and wine was excellent as everywhere so far in Portugal. Cerianly a pleasant place, though not upscale. Was the only time we actually had cash and paid cash. So we didn't face the challange other reviewers are sharing. When prices are in the high segment you'd expect to be able to pay by card. The service was very kind. Soups - excellent. The main dish we were recommended - way too much potatoes to eat something like that in the...

Went here as part of our tour lunch. We were served soup, fried fish balls, and for main course- liver, pork, fried potatoes, and buttered rice. Everything except the soup was extremely oily. The pork was dry and the liver was overcooked. Everything was missing seasoning. Portions were very little as well.
