Hamburgueria DeGema (Braga, Centro) — Restaurant in Braga

Been a long time Dejema client with no reason to say something negative. And it is really bad.

Starting with the waiter and waitress, not sure if they lack of professionalism or poor management and training, but was really bad, hard communication due to language barriers, orders not entirely fulfilled or prolonged delays with need of asking twice to multiple people.

Hygiene and this is the bottom line, there was no hygiene or care. My wife took the kids to wash their hands and came from bathroom saying there was no soap, I went inside to confirm and in fact there was none, asked the manager that was at the counter and his answer was the thing is broken, so we have nothing neither alternative. On top of that there was no drying paper or automatic blower.

Asked if they had crayons and paper for kids to get entertain and they brought literally a cup with small pencils. It came with a pencil sharpener but due to the size of the pencils they barely could be used, not to talk that hundreds of hands used them, and knowing there was no way to wash hands after.

We decided to give it a try, it was not rush hour, neither packed, so we thought food would at least be the normal thing and would be good, however that was not the case. Food was cold and at normal standards.

A fun burger joint near the Santa Barbara Garden in the historic district.

We went for an early dinner and enjoyed the setting sun over the garden and dragon fountain.

We started with the Bacon Roll ups for an appetizer. We ordered #1 and # , both medium well, no red. I did say I'd take a well done, but not dried out.

Alas, as you can see, mine was quite red and I didn't eat most of it, which is too bad, because what I did eat was quite good and the meat seemed seasoned.

The hamburger buns were freshly made and tasty and we had the chips with oregano at our waiter's suggestion.

My guess is burgers not cooked to order are the reason this very popular, always busy, place only gets a 4.4 rating, because the quality of ingredients is quite high.

They do have chicken and veggies burger options, too.

The restaurant specializes in hamburgers and this is proven by their quality after the first bite. The quality of the product is really good for the price they have. I ordered the "Tripeiro" hamburger and the result, together with the francesinha sauce it came with, was truly amazing. The hamburger meat is of high quality and is really tasty. As for the chips, you can choose the classic "stick" format or the chips format (in my opinion the chips format is a better option). They have a few craft beers with different flavors that are very good. The attention of the waiters was simply excellent. They spoke to us with great respect and were always willing to help and advise us. In short, a great option for lunch or dinner in Braga. We will certainly repeat if we return...
