Loved this place!
Great location in the market. Browse the vendors (clothes, vintage, pottery - depending on the day) and stop in for an amazing seafood meal.
We loved it so much we went numerous times for lunch after visiting the market.
Here's how it works: Grab a table. Go to seafood counter and check out all the offerings. Discuss and order what you want at the counter. Order the menu food from your table
We were also blown away by the offerings. So many varieties of crustaceans, some I had never heard of (and I really like to eat seafood).
On the numerous visits, we tried a lot: cardinal shrimp: AMAZING, has ruined shrimp for me. So delicious and enormous, really worth splitting one! limpets: classic buttery, always wanted to have this dish sea urchins: so fresh and delicious razor clams: cooked in olive oil, garlic, and cilantro - really good brown crab: full crab served room temperature with the dip made of the goo served with Melba toast. Very interesting! seafood soup: so so good, comes with chunks of shrimp gooseneck barnacles: first time trying this. So interesting, tastes like a sweeter clam. chips: hot, fresh cut potato chips white sangria: really delicious and fresh
Super good, you must try!!

Read moreMust go, this place is simply Genius! You get in the market (restaurant is in) you buy the fresh fish at the fish shop (the shop is inside the restaurant, and the fish still alive if you go for crabs or lobsters ) and you get it cooked after few min. You can also pick from the menu, but the fresh one you choose is more unique. We went for some small appetizers (ham and olives), then went for shrimps (2 tiger which we got grilled and 2 carabineros which we got fried). Both were very tasty and meaty. I suggest you buy some rice with the carabineros… the sauce becomes an amazing dressing for the rice. Then… a portion or razor clams and a sapateira crab. Clams were very tasty, even if I didn’t like the coriander they were cooked with. Sapateira, was a wow! Was boiled and then the inside part served as a a cream to eat with crispy bread while claws served just crashed and to be eaten with the specific tools. We finished with a lemon cake, tasty but nothing special. We were anyway very satisfied. Service was very helpful in the choices, especially at the beginning when the concept of the restaurant was explained. Venue is very basic. Apart from the fish shop, very well organized, tables and table clothes were very basic. All in all: a must...
Read moreLocated on the ground floor of the local market, marisco na paraca is a delightful treat outside of the usual tourist path. We began our meal with our first taste of clams bulhao, and we liked them here more than anywhere else that we had them! The local oysters were very good as well, slightly less briney and buttery than east coast US oysters, with a more mild taste overall. We finished with the seafood rice, which was a delightful combination of spices, rock lobster, mussels, clams, etc. Service was wonderful, and the staff helped us choose a delightful wine to accompany our meal, which has quickly made its way to our list of go-to white wines. The experience of walking into the restaurant is also worth mentioning. One orders one's seafood directly from the counter, and you can survey all the offerings on ice and pick and choose as you wish. Next to you is a large bank of crustaceans, and a delightful view of all the prawns, crabs, and lobsters that you could add...
