Other reviews were right: You don't need to eat anywhere else in Cascais if you're not a seafood person. The chicken here is the best piri piri chicken I've ever had in Portugal or anywhere else. We got there 5 minutes before it opened for dinner service; there was a line of about 25 people, but we easily fit in the first seating. As soon as people were seated, the staff were bringing around cheese/olives/ham/bread/cod croquette starters to all tables. If you didn't want (they're not free!) you could wave them away. No one gets a menu unless they asked -- they mostly serve one thing: roast chicken, either not spicy or piri piri. The piri piri has a KICK. I am good with spicy sauces and this piri piri left my lips on fire in the best way. After that, they ask if you want the chicken with white rice, tomato/onion salad or fries. You can choose all three or none or any. They will figure out the proportions depending on the number of diners. For two adults, one order of chicken + salad + fries were perfect (we didn't want any starters). It was only after when they asked us if we wanted dessert did they bring the menu (they also offer grilled fish/pork and a soup of the day on the menu, but I didnt see anyone order nonchicken dishes).

The only drawback is due to its popularity, it is hard to flag down a server and it took a while for staff to come and take our order, and even more time for our chicken to arrive as well as to find someone for the bill. But 100% worth the wait. Our meal for two with a glass of wine, a large bottle of still water, chicken, salad and fries came out to be less than 20 euros. Absolutely best...

I don't usually write reviews but this place unfortunately is worth the review. We weren't seated immediately which was fine as the staff looks very busy, (roughly 15 minutes wait time) Once we were sat we waited 15 minutes until I got up and asked to order (we didn't have menus either), at this point 3 wait staff had walked around us numerous times. Once I asked the staff serving to order, she said no and held her hand up to me. Once she asked her boss if it was ok to serve us, he arrived and apologised for the delays. He spoke with the wait staff about it and they seemed to treat us negatively based on that. When we were paying, we were charged olives and cheese that we didnt receive and something else that we were querying as we dont speak Portuguese. The girl who was serving asked the other wait staff to explain, they then proceeded to laugh at us as we don't speak Portuguese. We've spent 3 weeks in rural Portugal and spoken what we can and had lovely interactions. This place was actually incredibly awful for service and they were very rude, I've never left a lunch venue feeling this way. The apparent owner was good but I would fire pretty much all the wait staff. Inattentive, uninterested and arrogant. We asked for the bill adjustment and the girl scrunched it up, went back to the counter and started cleaning the coffee machine until we noticed and went to see what was going on! 😅
