Watch out if you have kids, probably avoid as it’s really an adult place and menu. For starters, literally, the server put down a tray of 3 dipping sauces, without telling us that one of them is so hot that it burned my tongue for several minutes before easing up. My son was about to dip a tortilla in it and if I had not already tried it and stopped him, he would have been screaming in agony. The server absolutely m should have warned us that the hot one is eye watering tongue splitting hot, when they put it down. I would say it was as though they had left the red chilli seeds in, if not it was a naga chilli, and I can take hot curries and very spicy food and even I would not attempt another dip even as a dare! The service was with a poor attitude sadly, no smile and rather patronising brusque answers. She obviously didn’t like her job! I kind of knew it would t be good, but I thought I would try the mackerel ceviche, as I love good ceviche but no it doesn’t work. mackerel is far too course a fish for ceviche. Here are the positives: Come really for the cocktails as the Pisco Sour was great and I could see other people’s cocktails were clearly good. So if you don’t care about the food it’s great for drinks. They even can’t make tacos as they aren’t tacos they are some sort of gluten free vegan rubbish. The fillings though were nice but no you can’t call them tacos and overall they weren’t good largely due to the wannabe tacos. The quesadillas were far too bland and portions far too small of everything and anything. There was no tomato base on the quesadillas. My kids eat them all the time and even they couldn’t eat much of them as they were so bland. We had to go and buy a pizza to takeaway after for the kids as they ate so little and these kids are used to Spanish food living in Spain and love sushi and teppanyaki they aren’t fussy for kids, before you wonder are they chicken nuggets kids, the answer is no way. So drinks night great , food night no what we had...
Read moreIt was an amazing time at Malacopa. This review is long overdue. Staff was amazing. We were attended by amazing people who provided with some many good recommendations as well as some super spicy sweets that we weren’t expecting. They even included some extra for the road. They are super friendly and accommodating. We were very blessed to find a table since it’s normally fully reserved.
Ambient was really good. It was raining that day so having some amazing music and people all round talking, was nice. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a lot.
It’s nice to have some genuine Mexican food, that’s absolutely delicious. The tacos were amazing, especially the pork and shrimp tacos. The Chilaquiles was amazing. Really good, as well as the totopos. I wasn’t a big fan of the alcoholic drinks (I’m not a drinker) but my girlfriend loved it. We ended ordering dessert because of the amazing treatment. The 3 leches was so good. Delicious 3 leches Mexican style. We spent about €70 but we ate and were filled. And ate some more because it was good.
Make sure to make a reservation. They tend to be fully reserved till...
Read moreYou must pre book otherwise you will not get in, it's very busy. We chose to sit upstairs, inside. The outside area is situated in a narrow, very busy cobbled street. The dishes are small and I would treat it like a tapas restaurant, order a couple of dishes, and then order some more. The tables for two are small. The food is good and the waitresses pleasant. It's a Mexican styled restaurant so I ordered a Margarita, my mistake. It was served in a glass tumbler packed with ice! Anyone who has any knowledge of making cocktails should know the ice is used to chill the drink and should then be strained off. As I said I only tried the Margarita but I assume all their cocktails will he served that way. Ten Euros, not cheap but not expensive. Atmosphere really good but some training on cocktail making? In Cascais their are literally hundreds of restaurants. My advice would be to do some research and prebook a few. Oh, they have two evening sittings...
