If you don’t like sleep then this is the place for you. The bar next door will keep increasing the volume into the early hours of the morning and honestly it might as well be in the same room as you because there is no drowning the sound out at all. Terrible DJ next door so you must like ABBA on repeat.
It was clean but for some reason the owner thought that painting every wall of the place during peak season was a good idea so it made it difficult getting in and out of our room or knowing which entrance we could use that day. Not to mention the horrible smell of the paint, the multiple bin bags blocking the lift and staff that seemed annoyed if you wanted to get into your room during daylight hours. The lift only worked if you smashed the buttons multiple times, no stairs that I know of present.
Our only window was street level to the very noisy bar next door so we were in total darkness for our entire stay which was just extremely depressing. The rooms were clean, so that’s something but expect to keep asking for toilet roll. No fridge provided and you have to call reception to change the temperature of the AC, despite there being an AC panel in the room. The shower can barely fit a human in it.
The breakfast is awful. Do not attempt to eat this. You have no choice of breakfast and it is made hours in advance so by the time you get it at 8am the fruit is shrivelled, the bread and pastry is dry and stale and you get a sweaty slice of cheese each (literally 1 wafer thin slice of mild plastic cheese) and get a slice of luncheon meat which just made me feel sick. Needless to say, we did not attend breakfast after that.
The only highlight to this hotel was the lovely Brazilian lady at reception (I believe she had only been working there a couple of weeks), I wish I had gotten her name as the 1 star on this review is only because of her. Otherwise I would give them -2 stars.
Avoid at all costs. You will regret...
Read moreThe room was clean. The "seaview" means you can see about 2 inches of the ocean above the buildings. If I would have known this, I would have book somewhere else to be honest. Even more upsetting was how small the room and bathroom were. A maximum of 4-5 feet around the bed is all you will get from a wall. The tub/shower was interesting as well..no door or curtain so mind where the water comes off your elbows..
Cascais is a busy place and the inside the room you could tell.. first clue, they give you a set of ear plugs. I'm young but I do understand how other would be upset at the noise level of this hotel. Construction RIGHT outside that started @ 6:30 am was a nice addition to the music stopping about 2 am. If you drove, good luck with parking. If you have luggage, enjoy rolling it over the paths. These issues don't bother myself, b.c it is Europe and parking is always an issue.
Would I stay again? No. There wasn't anything "bad" but it left MUCH to be desired.
The lady at the front desk was very friendly and made great recommendations on food and items to see. Also, the gentlemen @ breakfast must have been the nicest individual I have ever encountered. Kidos to...
Read moreWhen we book a hotel we hope to get a reasonable nights sleep. Not at this hotel, not one wink of sleep and on raising a complaint in the middle of the night and the next morning we were told that we should have read the reviews!!!|Such a shame it looks like a fair amount of money has been spent on recent room renovations but a failure to put triple glazing windows in means that there is no sleep. The ear plugs supplied should have been a warning of the night we were in for but they did nothing to cut out the noise.|Very loud music played from the bar opposite until at least 2.30am then every word could be heard from drunken tourists returning past the hotel for a couple of hours after that.|Breakfast was very basic with no choice and a server who was inattentive and rude.|The front of house wasn’t bothered about our issues and we were fobbed off with “manager on holiday and immediate boss on day off” how very convenient. He clearly hasn’t passed on the message for the...
