We tried the 'Check In' restaurant for our evening dinner this week having seen the various Michelin accolades on the front of the building. On entering the restaurant, it was clear that the service was going to be exceptional. Courteous, attentive staff saw to every detail. We began with a cocktail, prepared with the individual flair of the barman who put his own twist on familiar cocktails. Absolutely delicious. We had traditional starters before going on to more familiar options but all served with the passion of the chef whose foray into developing algae for consumption has been an absolute triumph. At first you might decide that algae is not an ingredient, but the extreme health properties made it an attractive option and we were not to be disappointed. The clever development of this pure product transformed the dished we tried. Overall, this is a 'must' for true food lovers who are open to try new twists on traditional fare. The chef personally came to introduce himself and explain the concepts - it was much appreciated as we gained a comprehensive understanding of the growing use of sustainable techniques in the kitchen. First class from start to finish!

Although I had received a confirmation message in advance, booking was not recorded properly and I had to sit inside, next to the busy serving counter. As for dishes, on the menu they wrote they use minimum salt but the Iberico pork dish were a bit too salty and green peppers were over cooked, not aldente as they contests on the menu. I enjoyed the slow cooked octopus, but I could not finish half of the sweet potato puree underneath the octopus. This place may be costly for the one person to enjoy various kind of dishes, better to sharewith others. Overall I might have had too much expectations to this restaurant and to “Michalin Bib Gourmand” which I thought it is generally useful to find good food with good price. I would strongly recommend to go Alameda Restaurant for a sophisticated gastronomie with the same price.

We had high expectations for this restaurant - from the reviews. The location was outstanding and the staff was very attentive. Because it was very quiet, we felt the staff came round a bit too frequent to our liking, but they were very friendly throughout. The food was good, but not outstanding or making us want to come back personally. It was well prepared but we thought it lacked a bit of originality or flair for the price you pay - sometimes focussing on the wrong things (i.e. adding algae to a meal rather than focusing on getting the dish perfect first). The desserts were the best part of the meal and can't fault them. Overall, we had an enjoyable and tasty night, but not the one that makes you desperate to come back again and again.

This place is a total joke. We paid sooooo much for a very very small sample of food. If you ask me if at least the food was good? I didn't have enough food in my plate to answer this question. Absolutely ridiculous. Extremely expensive for 2 small spoons of food that they call starters or principals. They took hedges to serve us and they look kind of lost during the service. For me this is the kind of place that you go for the name of the chef but reality is far away from his reputation. We will never go back to this restaurant. Something's to add, after seeing the comment of the chef/owner I started to see the reviews of others clients, why? Because I wanted to be sure if I was the only one with this point of view, however I saw that the reviews are divided by 2 groups mostly, a group of clients/friends and a group of real clients, The group of friend as you can see is basically saying how great the chef are and the Michelin stars etc etc with pictures etc etc, so most of the reviews are made by friends of the owner and any person that has said anything negative to improve the service by changing or at least listen with respect as a professional should, what we see is just the cherry on the top of the cake! A very arrogant disrespectful person with a very poor mentality that has as argument only "go to the Macdonald" so I hope this comment can help you to decide where to go, if you choose to go there prepare your pocket and try to save some for the McDonald's! Btw if McDonald's is so bad how come they are more successful than yours business? That's mighty a bit extraordinary no? You are better than McDonald's and in the end of the day people still choose...

I ate here with my boyfriend a couple of days ago on our last night in Faro. I have a couple of severe life treathning allergies, so I made hand-out cards in Portugese to make sure I was understood. The staff told me that it was completely safe for me to eat the dishes that we chose. They even came back for a few follow-up questions. After my first bite of the foie-gras I felt a sensation in my mouth. It was pear, one of my severe allergies. I asked the staff if I was right, and there were indeed big pieces of pear hiding in a sauce. They asked uninterested if I wanted an other plate, and if I needed an ambulance. The second plate, which they than made without my allergies, was completely different than the first one. They didn’t want to explain what really was on my first plate. After this I started to severly swell and needed an ambulance. They took me to hospital because I was having a severe allergic respons. We ended up staying there the whole night. Now a few days later, I’m still feeling the consequences of my allergic response and the fear of not knowing what was excactly on my plate… Please, don’t eat here if you have allergies. They come off as caring in the beginning, but they don’t.. This restaurant shows signs of a Michelin reported restaurant, it clearly isn’t if they handled this so poorly. Even the tiniest and cheapest restaurants could handle my severe allergies with more...

First of all the food was very disappointing for a restaurant that advertises with a mention in the Michelin guide. Secondly the sommelier was very pushy for us to get the most expensive wine, not very professional. Worst of all my girlfriend ended up in the hospital after eating here with a severe allergic reaction, despite handing out very specific allergy cards. The waiters as well as the chef Leonel Pereira reacted very indifferently and careless. Leonel Pereira is honestly far from the level of a Michelin chef and brings shame to the good name of Michelin. As well in quality of food, as in managing his kitchen. Honestly, if you want to eat good and tasty food i wouldn't go here. Also if you have an allergy, definitely don't go here.

Edit: I think the unprofessional reaction of Chef Pereira speaks for itself.. First of all, the allergy cards were clear for every restaurant we ate at for 3 weeks. Also he denies that it was an allergic reaction, although the ambulance advised us to go to the hospital immediately (not chef Pereira). She was helped with the highest priority and we ended up staying there until 5am. I think this unprofessional and arrogant attitude from chef Pereira really reflects on the rest of the...
