Here is a perfect case of slapping "Irish Bar" on a place that doesn't make it Irish. Our visit for two pints of Guinness was marred by a curt response when we asked for the check with the beers to save time. The pints, though not correctly poured, were passable. However, the lack of courtesy continued when we had to ask for the bill and received no response to our 'thank you. ' We didn't order food, but as we sat close to the bar, I heard several people complaining about the speed of the service and issues with the meals. The atmosphere is very cold, different from what you would expect from an Irish pub/bar. I won't be back; there are much better pubs on the island (see my other reviews for some gems).

I visited Moynihan’s Irish Pub and Restaurant hoping for a simple meal, but was left extremely disappointed. I ordered a jacket potato, and shockingly, it took over 40 minutes to arrive — on a quiet day with barely any customers around. The staff seemed completely clueless, disorganised, and unsure of what was going on. This place does not reflect a traditional Irish pub or restaurant in any way — it lacks atmosphere, character, and most importantly, decent service. If this is how they treat customers on a quiet day, I dread to imagine the chaos when it’s busy. Strongly recommend you don’t waste your time here. Avoid this place like the plague.

We ate here on a whim as we knew nothing about it, only that it served more "British" styled food (even though it's advertised as an Irish Pub). You have a choice of eating inside or outside ( undercover), and as it was a bit chilly, we opted for outside as they had blankets on the backs of the chairs. All the food that came to the table tasted great and was of huge portions. Don't over order unless you are a big eater! I can recommend the Guiness and beef pie. The servers were polite, prompt, and well presented. There are toilets available which were very clean and tidy.

Disappointing. We started with drinks, which were fine. On ordering food we were told it would be 30-45 minutes. No problem. There is a garlic and herb mushrooms with bread on the menu and a fried mushrooms with garlic mayonnaise on the specials. Both called Garlic Mushrooms. In spite of pointing to the one on the menu we got the one on the specials. A while later a waiter came with jacket potatoes which we hadn't ordered. After a while I asked where our fish & chips were. Sure enough they had lost our order. They put it through again with a note ASAP. After about 10 minutes it came. Fish was hard and dry, chips were floppy, homemade tartar sauce from menu was missing, regular or mushy peas became mushy peas without asking. Other than a friendly apology from the waiter we weren't offered anything for all...

The reason for the low score was due to the poor service and food.

The staff were friendly enough however it seemed as though they didn't know what they were doing. Once we were seated we had to get the waiters attention to order some drinks. Then after waiting twenty minutes for our drinks to turn they finally arrived.

The couple next to us had to take their bottle of wine back downstairs to be opened as the waiter had forgotten to do this.

More or less the same throughout the evening. Had to ask the waiter how long our food would be as it was taking a long time.

Eventually the food came. I had a Guinness and ale pie which wasnt nice at all. Didn't taste anything like a steak and ale pie. The inside resembled more of a stew with a watery soft pie top.

Won't be going...

Moynihan is one of my favorite restaurants just a 10 minute walk west from the capital. The street it's on has turned very high end and Moynihans has remained one of the most affordable and laid back. Their fish and chips is the MOST AUTHENTIC British fare on the island. The menus is comfort food of the British kind. What would send this place over the top is british bangers...toad in the hole.Baners and mash. They make sausages over here I don't see why management can't special order them.Probably cheaper than regular sausages as they're more bloody stale bread than anything. Music is 70s to today softly playing in the background which was quite pleasant and the waite staff can be hit or miss depending on the time of the month😁. Last time I was there wasn't as good...
