This is our second visit to The Prince Albert, and I can't complain. Not because I'm British, and I like my Guinness. To be honest, in my opinion, the Guinness from my local is creamier and has a lovely liquorice after taste. However, the Guinness here has a nice head that follows down the glass. The poncha has a nice kick and sweet citrus aftertaste, and the cocktails are not watered down as the ones I have had in some places around the UK. I have conquered my fear of sardines today. It was just amazing. I had both sardines and mackerel, and I loved it. Flacky, soft, yummy fish. If you are in Funchal, I will recommend that you try the food here. If you are unsure, just ask Nuno, and he will help you. I know where I'm having dinner tomorrow! Do you? Just had my 3rd visit and had the steak strip. OMG... it was so good. The portion is big. The other half had the prawn and avocado salad. He was really quiet during dinner. Honestly, guys, you need to give it a try. The beef was tender and pink in the middle. The mushroom sauce is just the best. Dunked my chips , meat, and onion ring in it. Love the place, the people, and the atmosphere. I would come back, but holidays coming...

From the outside, this place doesn't look anything special but once you're inside, it's really quite glamorous! Presentation is clearly important, as is functionality. Everywhere was really clean and tidy. The bar seems to have a huge selection of alcoholic drinks including brands that are hard to find elsewhere. Opposite the bar, they have a chilled room made with glass walls so you can see what's on display, which is a lovely feature. They use their most beautiful glasses decoratively, which is another nice touch. The reasonably priced food is better than average and the portions are quite large. The staff are really friendly and efficient. If you want a relaxed, casual night in Funchal, you can't...

We went here for cocktails on Friday and service was good so we decided to return for my birthday meal yesterday. I can't fault the food and drinks, they were lovely. We decided to have more drinks and a dessert then we waited........and waited.......and waited. The 2 waiters were obviously busy but never looked in our direction despite frantic hand waving. I had to go to the bar to ask for the bill, we then waited a further 10 minutes and again I had to force the barman to take payment. I told him we would have stayed if the service had been better but he didn't look interested. Everyone else seems to love this place so maybe we were...

I love coming to Madeira to visit this beautiful island and one of my favorite spots for gin and tonics is the Prince Albert Pub that was introduced to me by my cousin Luisa, a resident of the island. The pub, which is located walking distance from our hotel, The Pestana Casino is an English Pub. Our regular server, Rui Pão is incredibly friendly and provides excellent bar service while also engaging in pleasant conversation. Luis Soares, who works behind the bar, makes excellent high quality drinks! Make sure you stop by the Prince Albert Pub for a pre-dinner drink or a night cap! You will not be disappointed. I can’t wait to return!

I normally avoid British style pubs abroad, but the Prince Albert is an exception worth making! I booked a few hours ahead to watch the Champions League football and they got me a great table with chairs pointed to one of the screen. But beyond the sport, the ambience is great, the ornaments draped across the pub are beautiful and interesting. They also have an excellent choice of world beers throwing in some local Madeiran and Portugal flavours. Best of all, the portions are large, tasty and great value for money. This might be the best pubs I’ve been to outside the UK, it’s certainly up there in the top 5!
