First of all, I hope the owners read this review and see it as an opportunity to improve.
My girlfriend and I are vegetarian and did not feel welcome. It was nice to see there were vegetarian options but it felt like they were obligated to put them on the menu. For all meat & fish dishes, ingredients were clearly stated but this was not the case for vegetarian dishes. We had to ask multiple times what was actually in the recipe as it just said 'country burger' with nothing else explained. This was very annoying for both customer and waiter. The same thing for the drinks. There was only a wine menu so we had to ask "what else is there?" Very awkward and annoying! Not that hard to add a hot/cold drink part to the menu.
Secondly we ordered the veggie burger with fries and it was really disappointing. I can't imagine someone from the staff tasting it and deciding to put it like that on the menu. There was no sauce (mayo, ketchup, guac, anything...). I asked extra sauce because the burger was so bland and dry, this came in little plastic tubes that are impossible to open with greasy hands. The burger "meat" was rubbery and had a very weird taste. The bun was way too sweet, made us feel like eating a pastry stuffed with bland flavours. Then there were nuts thrown around the burger on the plate. Looked good but was weird and pointless. Also the fries were undercooked and tasteless.
The setting on the other hand was cozy but it was ruined with the gigantic tv which was playing a football game (which you don't want to find here but in a sports bar).
The price was ok but for us still not worth it because of our experience.
After leaving we gave this exact feedback to the waiter and he was going to pass it on to the cook/staff.
We really hope you take this feedback to heart and improve as there is a lot of potential and it was a...
Read moreSecond visit.
Pros: great location, pleasant and unique decor, excellent products on display at adjacent store, very clean.
Cons: first visit, requested a glass of white wine while waiting for husband to arrive for lunch. House glass was 6 euro, very high for Funchal. When husband arrived, kitchen closed. Wasn’t told kitchen was closing nor were there any signs.
Second trip for dinner at 7 pm. One table seated when we arrived. First 4 items ordered not available. Wine recommendation from one waiter was overridden by another waitress who served something twice as expensive. My husband was served but I had to request a glass. Waitress never poured water or wine throughout meal. While we were there 6 other people arrived and were seated. After exchange with waitress, they all left.
Manager or owner noticed we were ready for the check and sent waitress. I attempted to get his attention to discuss the night and he walked past. This morning, I looked to see if there’s an email or Facebook message service to write a private message, but there isn’t.

Read moreWe stopped at this restaurant for coffee, and for lunch many times. They serve lunch off of their menu or the daily buffet. It is focused on being wholesome and healthy, but delicious. The food has alway been good, the service is friendly and polite and the price is very acceptable. In addition the location of the restaurant is very convenient and accessible. Just a little note about the outside seatings; on warm sunny days the shade provided by the umbrellas is not sufficient and it can get uncomfortable to sit outside. perhaps they can...
