We paid 20eur each for the entry to their NYE party, first they had us waiting for 20 mins outside, meanwhile we ordered drinks at the bar do teatro outside - which is the same owner as the bar inside- but were not allowed to take the drinks in (Poncha for 5 EUR - normal price max.2,50eur!!!!) Then the tickets were kept, not handed back, no devaluation, when we entered for reserving a table. Also we didn't get any receipt. When we went outside to finish the drinks, re-entry was not granted. Nothing written anywhere!! No information about that at all. (Btw, we were the first and only ones inside at that time!). I still had my bag and jacket inside. When I tried to discuss with the security to please let me pick up my handbag, they pushed me (!! A girl!!) hard against the wall for no reason and I hit my head badly! They did not let us in again, so we paid 100eur for 10 mins. Obviously they didn't give us the money back. That's just rip off!!! Even the police, which we called, could only recommend to write a complaint in their business book, what I did. But which use will this be?!? This book was already full of complaints. Are they treating tourists always like that? Are they seriously that poor? Or are the securities even fooling their bosses as tickets could be sold multiple times like that (just taking the tickets back and re-selling them again)? Or is it just planned tax fraud?? Just wondering... Strange behaviour. Never seen sth like that. Well, whatever, for us, this was a very bad experience for a madeiran evening out! We can not recommend this club at all!! Hopefully not all clubs in Funchal...
We came here to have dessert and drinks after dinner and this was the worst service we experienced during our entire trip in Funchal. The waitress (claimed to be the manager) took 25 minutes simply to serve ice cream and drinks. Half of the glass of the drinks was filled with ice. The waitress also gave the wrong flavour of the ice cream and when she came to serve the right flavour she made a nasty comment that she will charge us for both because we ate the previous one. Was she planning on putting the wrong flavour back inside the ice cream tub?
After some argument I heard she talking behind our back to her colleagues in Portuguese and she still insisted on charging us for both ice creams. She was very rude and hostile and showed attitude as well. Complaining about a customer to one's colleagues (in another language) is discriminating, insulting and highly unprofessional. Read moreUnfortunately we had a disappointing experience at this cafe. We were served by 3 different waitresses, who all seemed equally miserable. I understand that customer service varies, but this was actually just plain rude. At one point the waitress brought over a dish that we didn't order, and seemed to direct her anger with the other staff/kitchen to us. Asking for the bill took 15 minutes, and we were surprised to discover a charge of €2 for 2 extra plates. If the restaurant wants to apply this fee, that's fine, but should be communicated verbally or on the menu. The food was actually very good but the hostile service left a lasting impression for the wrong reasons.
