Read moreNeedless to say this was a terrific experience. We were greeted in the lobby and sent up to the top by elevator - splendid view of the city right after "lift off".
The food was next level, started of with a range of delicate tastes, and slowly build up to intense and powerful flavours with the Brisket, which was last of the main course. My companions had the wine menu and I had a few tastes, that were interesting and pleasant (but sadly I'm allergic).
The staff was extremely professional and attentive. At the same time the atmosphere was relaxed and authentic - kudos for managing to be both, it was amazing.
Because the bar is set so high at the Desarma, I'll mention a few nitpicks I had: The bread serving was a bit dry on one side, probably because I had the "first slice" of a loaf that stood a while We sat on wooden chairs, which got a bit uncomfortable after 3.5 hrs. The restaurant had a mix of chairs and I'm sure they would change it if I had asked (but it wasn't a big deal) No non-alcoholic pairing was available, it was pretty much wine or water. A juice pairing or similiar would have been great.
It's important to mention that all of the nitpicks is minor stuff, the overall experience was fantastic and I would love to come back at some point. Highly...

My partner and I always seek to try at least one fine dining establishment in every place we travel to. Unlike all the places we’ve been, which were fantastic in their own right, Desarma combines warm and friendly service with amazing food that featured Madeira flavors.
I know, I know…all fine dining places are supposed to have good service, and they usually do. But I can’t stress enough how nice and kind the front of staff were at Desarma. Besides the service, you can look forward to good food that is often paired with unique and tasty sauces. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection, and it’s difficult to decide which was my favorite dish of the night. I was so full towards the end yet I managed to finish the last meat main because of how easy (and tasty) it was to eat it.
This was truly an unexpected and unforgettable experience. If you’re on the island and looking for fine dining, this place should definitely...
