Probably the best pizza that I’ve had in a restaurant anywhere in Europe and the USA – and I’m an aficionado with my son and I competing to make the best pizza at home (yes his sourdough one in an Ooni wins!). The large and generous pizzas have a superb crunchy and pillowy crust, thin base, great tomato sugo and first-class toppings. Also, their salads are amazing: huge bowls full of super greens and tomatoes with loads of different cheeses added and the opportunity to add extras such as prosciutto and a pizza shaped, delicious garlic bread. The wines are good as well and the service is exemplary – lovely, helpful and personable staff that make you feel very welcome. The kitchen is open and you can see the owner (from Napoli I gathered) with his staff, all working happily, hard and enthusiastically. Some people might be a bit put off by the location as it’s within a shopping precinct and the tables and chairs are basic but comfortable. However, there is a great family atmosphere and it’s a happy, life-affirming place to eat. We went twice during our stay in Funchal and it was perfect and most enjoyable each time. We also gathered that they are imminently moving into a new dedicated dining area. Plus the area around it has a real buzz with plenty going on in the evening, thus making it interesting and enjoyable to walk to. Loved it - well...

The sun was shining, Madeira birds were chirping as them usually do. Me with my fellows ran into this place with a suspicious 5 star rating. I took tartufo pizza, which was the most expensive on the list, only €18 though. When I say "only", I mean HOLY BEANS, that pizza! It might've been the most delicious one I've ever tasted so far. And if you ask for spicy oil... Mmm.. man, your gastronomic journey would be unforgettable. I came here sober and left drunk AF without any wine. I tell you, tartufo pizza will tear your pizzarian templates apart, literally! Goddamn that trufel salami with those brave rocks of solid cheese, maaan that's just sick. It was as if Jesus has entered the kitchen and blessed Chef's hands with all his love and faith in humanity.

If you ever find yourself nearby this place, I dare you, I double dare you, don't you skip trying tartufo pizza...

A Perfect Post-Hike Spot

The Good: Really excellent pizza with friendly service that hit all the right notes. The food came out impressively quick – exactly what you want after a long day of hiking when you're properly hungry.

The Sweet Finish: Desserts were a real highlight. My pistachio cannolo was massive and absolutely delicious, while my partner's tiramisu was equally impressive. Both were generous portions that definitely satisfied our post-adventure appetites.

The Practical: This was the ideal quick, easy meal out – well priced and perfectly executed without any fuss. Sometimes you just want good food served efficiently, and they nailed it.

The Verdict: So good we came back another night later in the week, which says everything. This is exactly the kind of reliable, tasty spot every destination needs – perfect for refueling after a day...

Great neapolitan pizza. Given that the chef is italian (very friendly, came out to offer us some drinks and waved goodbye), the standard is close to what you may find in Italy and they deliver really tasty pizzas (the kind that focus on bringing out 1-2 flavours as toppings to be savoured). The only thing which I wish was different - I am hoping they will introduce more vegetarian options as part of their menu, maybe some aubergine based? I always had to pick a meat based pizza and cut down the meat from the recipe since the only 1-2 vegetarian ones available were not so much of my liking. Yet, I would still recommend this place to fellow vegetarians because the Margherita + mushrooms was sooo delicious! But otherwise, the pizza tastes great and it gives out that small-cozy-good-eats-finding of a place which you feel very lucky you ran into.
