What a wonderful gem of a place the Rivus is. We reserved a table via the Fork app, we arrived and were shown our table, there was a DJ playing music which made for a nice atmosphere. The waiter bought over complimentary Prosecco and a lovely appetiser and took our order, as the restaurant started to fill up we saw a table of people walk out as they hadn’t been served another man became angry as he’d waited 5 minutes and no one had been over to him he also complained about the atmospheric DJ, well you can’t please everyone! Our food arrived, we ordered the fried squid to start (to share) the plate was enormous and full of lovely fresh squid, we actually didn’t finish it all as we wouldn’t have eaten our main course. We had a little wait between our starter and our main arriving but that suited us. Wow our mains arrived, I ordered the seared tuna steak and my hubby ordered the scabbard and shrimps, we also ordered a side of vegetables, wow wow wow it was absolutely delicious, neither of us have had scabbard before but it was delicate and delicious and the tuna was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. We booked at table and arrived at the restaurant at the appointed time, led to a table labelled "revervado" and provided with menus. The waiter left us to go and attend to other, seated customers. The restaurant was busy but there was no queue for tables. We sat there for twenty minutes. We watched as other customers arrive at the restaurant and were completely ignored by staff even when they attempted an approach. Two members of staff appeared to be hunched over a screen totally oblivious to their surroundings and customers, potential and otherwise. After waiting almost twenty five minutes we decided to leave. If a member of staff had come over and informed us of a difficulty or at least taken a drinks order we would have been more patient but as it was we decided our custom must be unimportant to the restaurant. The view was very nice, there was a good live DJ with remix songs for the 80s/90s which was nice. The restaurant offered us a glass of bubbly and an amuse bouche, which was a very good start. The white sangria was delicious. The food was good and the plates generous. We had the fried calamari to share as entree (the breading was a bit surprising and different). Then I had The mixed seafood, which was a plate full of a large variety of seafood to my delight, and the tuna was also good. As side orders we had the fried green beans and sweet potatoes, but it was too much food. We didn’t order dessert as we were full. The waiters were nice.
