Despite - or maybe because of - its basic simplicity there's a lovely ambience to this friendly relaxed bar set on a small terrace just above the sea near the Sao Tiago Fort. Varied and competitively priced drinks menu including cocktails (delicious mojitos!!) together with a selection of simple snacks/light meals - tasty, generous and good value! Our combined food and drink bill for the 3 hours or so we spent there was just over 40 Euros. Easy to miss if you don't know it's there: having reached the end of the Hotel Santa Maria don't enter Forte Sao Tiago but turn right just before it passing between small boats and other assorted maritime paraphernalia. If you end up in the sea you've gone too far! NB - If like us you're Triominoes fans, barman Sergio is expert at retrieving lost tiles that have dropped and bounced over the edge of the tarrace and fallen between pebbles on the rocky beach below!...
