Really enjoyed our meal here. We sat out on the balcony with a nice sea view over the trees. The staff were excellent, very polite and really put us at ease. Food was really tasty. We had poppadoms and then onion bhajis to start (I think the poppadoms were made in advance and a tiny bit soft but still fine and the dips & onion were good so 3/5, and the bhajis were delicious, 5/5). Chicken Jalfrezi main was good (4/5), but the bhuna was really good (5/5). The bhuna was slightly hotter than Indians I go to in the UK do it, just to be aware of if you're sensitive to heat, but I loved it. Pilau rice was fine (4/5), and the naan breads (round style rather than the puffy oval style) we had were great (5/5). Also had a nice bottle of wine.

I looked at some other reviews and can see some people thought that the portion sizes were a bit small and that service was slow. I'm sure it varies a bit depending on what night you go here but when we were eating (early evening on a weekday) I wouldn't say the service was slow, and although the portion sizes are probably slightly smaller than you might get from some Indian restaurants in the UK (which let's be honest are sometimes very generous) they were perfectly reasonable and I was full after poppadoms, starter, and mains (partner and I shared with each other) with a shared rice portion and my own naan bread.

Overall I'd heartily recommend this place. Definitely worth paying a visit if you're staying in the area and...

Ok, where to start. I’m not normally known for writing any reviews but please read and take note. We arrived after having our table for 5 booked for over a week at 19:30 prompt. We didn’t get offered any drinks for 45 minutes, they then proceeded to take our order just after. After an hour and 15 they brought two starters out forgetting about about our other two. The other two come 30 mins later stone cold. This was sent back immediately. The after another 30 minutes the two starters came out hot this time. Over two hours late the mains came out, three rice dishes out the four was stone cold and wrong again. Buy this time the main restaurant was almost empty. They then proceeded to shout and argue over the bill. No apologies given, not amount take off the bill. Very rude and ignorant staff and manger. In all honesty we have eaten all week at some lovely restaurants that have been completely full with no compromise in the quality of service and food. Please take my advice and AVOID this place at all cost. You will have a...

We had a reservation for 20:00, however it took them 10 minutes to take us to a table. This while half of the restaurant was empty. Afterwards they just forgot about us for 40 minutes, without any excuses. The waiters even looked at us and did not do anything about it.

People who came in way later received their food way before us. They only attended us when we went up to the bar to tell them we were leaving as we were not helped yet. Furthermore the male waiter just put our drinks on the table and just left without saying anything or looking at us. We were promised that our food would be put more to the front however it took them 40 more minutes to get the food on the table.

On the bright side the food tasted good, however the portions were quite small… Thus this would be the only thing okayish. The location is good, you have a great view so I will give them this as-well. However overall the worst experience we have had on our trip in Madeira and I would not recommend...

The staff were useless and lazy. It was only 10% full and after seated we were ignored for about 20 mins before we were asked if we wanted any drinks. We would have asked but all 5 staff were just standing around the bar twiddling their thumbs. When the food arrived the meals were ok but the rice and the nan bread was tiny, not like rice or bread costs a lot. Then we had asked for two nans but only got one. Had to ask 3 members of staff before we got the second one AFTER we had finished our food. Never cleared the dirty tables around us the whole time we were there. No atmosphere and no personal touch. Note to the owners. If I owned this restaurant I would replace the lot of them or at least give them a good kick up the back side and tell that manager to smile instead of looking like she's sucking a lemon. You are missing out on returning customers and drink sales.

I got a takeaway meal which consists of potato and cauliflower, so I considered no extra rice or bread necessary. First thing that they charge you for the container and even the paper bag. The portion is ridicoulously tiny..more a leftover/doggie bag size. Totally not acceptable, as a main dish , and for that price and considering that it only consists of one wedged potato and some stems of cauliflower! The taste and quality of the food was very nice though!

We have eaten in this restaurant for almost twenty years now every time we have visited Madeira, not just for the memories but for the food. If you like Indian cuisine that isn't too heavy with no sign of oil then you will like the food here. We have never had a bad meal. Plenty of choice too for vegetarians. At times can be a little busy which slows speed of service but the views are great and the decor modern and light. Highly recommended.
