Restaurante TOC TOC — Restaurant in Lagoa

I so wanted to like this place! Tempted by the Prato do Dia at €7,50 we went in, thinking, as in other Portuguese restaurants, that this price includes at least a drink and coffee. (we live in Central Portugal). We discovered after main dish, drink, coffee and dessert that we were wrong. Bill totalled 29€ for two! A bit more than we banked on... Note no menus with prices were handed out... It's the "expensive" Algarve. The chicken was nice, but dessert was a bit of a disaster. Cheesecake was definitely listed in the warp-speed delivery of choices by the waiter, and chosen by us. What turned up was a solid jam-like roll. I asked to change, mentioning the cheesecake. "Não há ". I asked to change, another portuguese customer agreed cheesecake had been mentioned. Grudgingly I was taken to the dessert fridge and I took a chocolate mousse. Nice flavour, if a bit too sweet for me, but it was old. Rubbery on top and the whites had separated at the bottom. The waiter, who had been ok up to dessert, really changed his attitude to us (sadly not for the better). I see from other reviews most people like it here, maybe we were just unlucky. But we felt ripped off. Definitely not...

Followed by the good reviews I went with my family to toc toc on a Sunday for lunch. Food was ok for the price, but the service and atmosphere were horrific. The waiter acted like he didnt know any English (while he did), and when we did not understand him, he just walked away and started gossiping with another customer about us. The woman from the kitchen was nicer than the waiter, i am sure this is not how it is meant to be. When we were eating, the waiter was just standing in the room staring at us, a bit akward... After we paid we went to pfc ferraguda, which lies in the center of ferraguda, that i would definitely recommend. Really attentive personnel and...

We spent two weeks in Portugal! Luckily we found this authentic gem of a place! We loved it so much we went twice! The peri chicken was the best we’ve ever had! They were accommodating to our toddler and gave him a little toy at the end! Lovely family restaurant especially when it’s only 2/3 working at once! The price was also very good with a peri peri chicken with salad and fries and a beer coming to under €15! Would visit again if...
