I have been coming here since this place opened, but somehow Google deleted my original review and photos.

The new location is nice with that rustic industrial modern look, but I prefer the old place, if I'm honest. It seemed more intimate and friendly. But they have raised the quality of the decor and plating so it's hard to find anything to complain about.

The food is very solid but pretty expensive. This is Lagos so a lot of restaurants will be over-priced, but the good thing about here is that despite the higher price tag, the food actually has a lot of flavour and variety. There is a high standard of cuisine here. So, you get what you pay for.

I would recommend ordering the dishes here that you can't find elsewhere. The ones, like the Portuguese steak, you can find elsewhere for much cheaper, so save your money for the more unique dishes here that they specialise in. Octopus is good, as are the tuna dishes. Tartares are top notch. There are some seriously good hits and a few misses (Eggs Revolt).

Cocktails were a bit too sweet for my taste. Some were practically a dessert. But good pours, attention to detail, and the menu is extensive. Lemonade is amazing!

Service has gone down a little from what it used to be, and I don't know where the website went. We used to make reservations to eat here, but I can't see how to do that anymore. Maybe I'm blind!

If you're coming for lunch, it's the same...

Located just outside of the hubbub of touristic old town sits this breath of fresh air of a restaurant. Don Gill is smartly decorated with a relaxed industrial vibe which is more upscale than most restaurants in the area. Food is inventive, colourful, and fresh. Menu offers a wide array of hot and cold tapas, as well as several mains. We shared the beet carpaccio which was nicely flavoured and lightly topped with just the right amount of a very creamy goat cheese. The fish pastry was more like an egg roll and smaller than I expected. I enjoyed the sauce more than the fish filling. The Madame of the North was large in comparison with 4 cheese and sauce topped mini beef sandwiches. The sauce was added at the table which was a nice touch. Lots of tender beef and each topped with an egg made this a very filing tapa compared to the fish pastry. Our shared dessert was a light chocolate cake, topped with a thick caramel sauce and an amazing black vanilla ice cream. The light cake with the heavier sauce was the perfect balance. Service was attentive and polite. My second glass of wine came after the fact but this didn’t ruin the meal in any way. We enjoyed our lunch and would...

We came here for lunch after reading reviews of this place, and we weren’t disappointed. Service was friendly and attentive, with our waiter asking us how we liked Portugal and discussing the tourism here with us. Both of us appreciated that he took the time to talk to us besides just taking our orders.

The menu has a variety of tapas and main courses, with a focus on seafood and meat. I had the burger and my partner had the tuna burger, both of which were delicious and nicely presented. The lemonade was also very nice (not too sweet) and definitely homemade. The prices are very fair given the quality of the food and drinks. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy great food and drinks in a nice, quiet setting. As the restaurant is located slightly away from the road, it feels like eating in someone’s yard, rather than by the street.

However, it may be worth mentioning that there was only one vegetarian dish on the menu. One minor complaint I have is that I asked for my burger to be well-done, but it was still quite pink in places. Still, I very much liked Don Gull and enjoyed...
