Bistro Edelweiss
My first visit here was a delight, beginning to end. The only thing I regret is that I didn’t make here earlier, since it was on my bucket list for quite a while already. The atmosphere caught me right away. You can tell the love for playful details when you look at the setup. It is way too much to grasp with a few looks, but that doesn’t mean that it is overloaded. The owner from Switzerland found a good balance. By entering until leaving the waitress was always there, very attentive and helpful. Although we met for the first time, we managed to go beyond the pure business talk about ordering and recommendations and the talk has been always fluent, open and funny. With a first look on the menu, I knew already it would give me a hard time to come to a decision. Too many delicious offerings. Lucky me, I had taken a sneak peek via internet the day before and so it didn’t take long to order. The sautéed veal liver in butter with herbs, accompanied with mashed potatoes and green beans was nothing but a revelation. When the waitress showed me the dessert menu, I couldn’t help but ordering a piece of carrot cake which turned out to be as much as delicious as the main course has been. With the dessert, I got served a special creation of espresso with cream, topped with whipped cream and cinnamon. This place is a clear 5*-Star-Recommendation. I surely have to come back to try out the other offers...
Read moreI had the pleasure of discovering Bistro Edelweiss while wandering through the charming streets of Lisbon, and it turned out to be a delightful find.
My partner and I decided to try their cheese fondue along with a bottle of Portuguese white wine. It was my first experience with cheese fondue, and I must say, it was absolutely incredible. The cheese was rich and creamy, and the wine complemented it perfectly.
The staff at Bistro Edelweiss were incredibly attentive, making us feel right at home. The warm and welcoming atmosphere added to the overall experience. It was the perfect setting for a lovely evening with my partner, sharing a bottle of wine and delicious food.
What makes Bistro Edelweiss even more special is the fact that the owners themselves serve and cook for their guests. This personal touch creates a unique and friendly ambiance that's hard to find elsewhere. We truly enjoyed the vibes and the company of the friendly people running the place.
Bistro Edelweiss is a hidden gem in Lisbon, and I can't recommend it enough. Whether you're a fondue aficionado or just looking for a cozy spot to enjoy good food and wine, this bistro is a must-visit. We left with full stomachs and smiles on our faces, eager to return for another...
Read moreAn amazing place - the decor is very 70s Swiss ski-chalet kitsch, but there's so much amazing detail and beautiful design, from the water glasses (70s vintage) and the way the tables are laid, to the lamps and vintage television sets.
The food is delicious - home cooked Swiss staples like Spatzli, Zurich Stroganoff and Vol-au-vent. The cauliflower soup with cranberry sauce (hot or cold, I had it cold) is particularly delicious, as is the ginger, carrot and salmon soup. They also do fondue, served with a little Kirschwasser for you to dip your bread in! And the chef's twist on Pizokels - a kind of light, fluffy gnocchi - is amazing. Recipes from the chef's grandmother, mother and sister fill up the dessert menu, they're particularly good. They also have amazing ice cream and a wonderful mind and elderflower sorbet (the "Heidi") from Nannarella's gelateria.
The owners - Marc and chef Adu - are so lovely! They speak about 6 languages and are a great laugh. Thoroughly recommend this place...go there to have some delicious home-cooked Swiss food and enjoy the decor...
