Casa da Praia Tapas Bar & Wine Bar (After 20.00h is dinner time.) — Restaurant in Lisbon

I regret to confirm the negative reviews for this wine & tapas bar in the heart of Lisbon.

I visited this place on two consecutive evenings with my partner in early September 2024. On the first evening, everything was perfect: the service was friendly, the wine was good, and the atmosphere was simply great, which is why I left a generous tip when we received the bill.

Because of this, we wanted to end our day in Lisbon the next evening with another glass of wine in a pleasant atmosphere at the same bar. But the second time, everything was different!

After placing our order with one of the staff, the manager came to our table and informed us, pointing to a sign, that dinner time starts at 8 PM. Because her bar is so small, they generally only accept orders with food from that time on. However, she would "tolerate" us and accept our drink order. This completely ruined the mood, and we couldn't help but wonder what had changed compared to the previous night, when we placed the same order at around 9:30 PM, only about 30 minutes later. I would have expected more professionalism and friendliness, and I advise anyone who just wants a drink to avoid this bar after 8 PM. It's a shame because otherwise, this bar would be...

I never write reviews but needed to share this to anyone looking for a wine bar…

It started off fine after finishing a day of visiting the city. Our waiter Ignacio was very sweet and it initially made us overlook the bad treatment we were getting from an older lady that turned out to be the owner. They kept “accidentally” running into our party multiple times. They also kept trying to take away our plates and glasses while we were still eating/drinking. The final nail in the coffin was when she stepped in the middle of our table, interrupted our conversation, and tried to coerce the quiet side of the table to move to another part of the restaurant. Her reasoning was that she didn’t know we were one party even though we were mid conversation.

If you see the people that you see in their TripAdvisor photo beware they’re about to kick...

Unfortunately have to give a 2 star review due to the extremely rude and unpleasant owner I dealt with.

After having a positive first experience in this tapas I came back with my Mam for the last night of our holiday in Lisbon.

The owner of the restaurant questioned why I didn't finish one of the dishes and made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. It was clear the restaurant was more for locals and she made me feel very unwelcome as a tourist in the restaurant. She continued her intimidating and rude behaviour by standing over my shoulder as I finished my glass of wine.

For this reason I wouldn't recommend this place if you aren't Portuguese or a "local".

Despite the above the food was lovely and fresh and the waitress (small lady) was beyond friendly and helpful and the waiter was lovely too.
