Maybe it was an off night. Because based on our experience I’m not sure how this restaurant has such rave reviews. 1st off the service was terrible. Waiter would disappear for long periods of time leaving dirty plates in between courses. Empty wine glasses. Twice I had to get up and pour our wine from the decanter. Took forever to get our bill. Had to flag another waitress at the end to pay. The there’s the food. The croquettes were utterly tasteless. And it was supposed to be the pre appetizer but came out the same time as our appetizer. The asparagus with straccino was ok but nothing special. My fish was bland as well as the vegetables and had to put salt on everything. My dates dish was ok. Mashed potatoes with truffles was very good and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere thus the 2 star rating. Otherwise it would have been 1. For the hefty price tag at the end I was extremely disappointed in virtually everything. I also resent the fact you have to give a credit card number including the security code just to hold a reservation. I most definitely will not...
Read moreThis was our second time dining at Davvero and it was a major letdown. We ate there for Christmas Day lunch. We were a party of 5. While most items tasted fine (other than the eggplant, which was terrible), everything we were served was, at best, lukewarm. It was incredibly disappointing, and, it wasn’t that busy (multiple empty tables when we were there). Our first experience was slightly better, but not dramatically so.
In my opinion, this restaurant offers very poor value for the experience. The best part of Davvero is the atmosphere/decor. The food (combined with a very inflated price for portions offered) is their worst feature.
There are several Italian restaurants we have enjoyed far more in Lisbon. Our entire party agreed that this was a very overpriced and very underwhelming meal, which is extra disappointing considering...
Read moreVery average Italian food in my opinion... This place makes me feel like they want to be like Cipriani, their plates are similarly designed as them, menu items have some similarity as well and the waiters are all dress in white suits. With high expectations due to the many 5 star reviews posted, we were truly disappointed... We ordered food suggested by our waiter and got the croquettes and beef tartare as starters, following the steak and cacio e pepe as our mains. Croquettes were good but nothing special, beef tartare was average, the steak was extremely dry and the cacio e pepe was also dry... The service was great (+1 star) and their vanilla meringue cake was delicious (+1 star), apps and main dishes were the main disappointments - expensive for nothing special. Personally think there are much better Italian...
