Last week was my brothers birthday, and trying to think of a way to send him something in the current Covid19 crisis I wasn't sure where to turn. He lives in Lisbon and I live in the UK so there were limited options, but I decided on a whim to send a message to these guys on their Instagram page after having stumbled across them at random some weeks ago. I loved all the photos and the ethos of the place so thought maybe I could ask them to help me out in surprising my brother with a birthday cake on his special day. To my delight they replied immediately to me and worked with me across Instagram to arrange a delivery for the next day of a stunningly beautiful and delicious birthday cake, a selection box of little cakes and a healthy green smoothie for him to enjoy on the afternoon of his birthday. They even offered to add a handwritten note for him and were so helpful in arranging online overseas payment. The very next day my brother was so surprised and happy to receive a wonderful delivery from these guys and said the people were so nice and friendly and made his day extra special. I would so highly recommend these guys as they went out of their way to do this for me even though it took time and extra effort to organise it and even made the delivery free of charge across town. Highly recommend these lovely, friendly and helpful people and their amazing cakes and juices!!! <3

Now we’re talking! Amazing place with a well decorated interior and friendly staff. The food was delicious however a bit too heavy. 1- Service Nothing to complain about, was very crowded so it is to be expected some waiting time. Nice staff, 20 min wait, good location and space usage. 2- Food Got the peanut butter and chocolate pancakes and almost couldn’t finish. It was so well served with big portions and abundance. Hadn’t experienced the feeling of being overwhelmed by quantity in a while. Expect to be full by half of it. I suggest you order one for two. It’s a bit too heavy and you will need some refreshments. The Açaí bowl was amazing, everything you expect from it, fresh, flavorful and well plated. The pumpkin pancake disappoints, don’t get it. Low flavor, quantity and interest, it’s just “there”. Nothing special about it. 3- Price Worth it. On the high ends but you will want to come back, it doesn’t hurt when you have a full stomach and heart. Our eyes eat too and the plating + ambient did it’s job. Will come again on another rainy day.

Cute location. In my neighborhood. Was fun sitting on the tables outside. Sit on the chairs in the inside towards the restaurant though, because cars do come very close to the outside chairs, which is actually kind of entertaining as long as you're not sitting in one. I would have liked to try this place more times. For me, I felt a bit of a snooty atmosphere, but maybe because those working there are fancier than me. I am a no frills kinda girl. I like a laid back feeling. I would definitely step in again maybe to give another try. This area in general is lovely to walk around. Some cool shops etc. Maybe the clientele there are considered more upper class and so the restaurant feels they have to act fancy, not sure. Maybe I'm too jankety as well hehe People at the restaurant seemed happy and satisfied from what I could see. It was also crowded inside, a sign that it is good. Cute vintage shop across the street you can check out. Prices are higher, but some things that would make cute gifts.

We had lunch at flora and fauna twice during our holiday.

Location ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Flora and Fauna is located close to Anjos Metro station, therefore accessibility is very good. They have another branch closer to downtown. The interior is very earthy, a lot of plants, a “hipster” vibe you could say. It is quite noisy inside when busy (and it’s busy every time we been there) and small tables - so not a good atmosphere to bring your laptop. Seating is very narrow so you could hear the conversation from your neighboring table. A downside in the summer could be that there is no outside seating.

Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The service was attentive but not exceptional. Dishes were removed quickly from the table, order was quickly taken but the servers lacked enthusiasm and especially at our second time there the food was brought to our table very very slow - in fact, three tables around us (that arrived later) were served before us, so there might have been something mixed up - but I’d recommend not being in a hurry when coming here.

Food ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a difficult one. I did have the smoothie of the day on my first day, which was tasty but small for 4€. The juice of the day however, was watered down and definitely not worth 3€. The avocado toast was a little bland, but the pancakes with bacon and egg are recommendable. Also the toast with mushrooms and Parmesan.

Pricing ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I think for a hipster coffee place pricing is in a median range. You don’t feel robbed at the check out but it’s not like...

We stayed four nights in Lisbon and after discovering this place on our first morning we booked for every breakfast. We sat outside three times and once inside when it was wet. It's very busy and booking is a good idea although you can't book a specific table. I had alternatively the Avena (apple and joghurt on banana and oat pancakes) and the spicy pumpkin (pumpkin, cream cheese and nuts) pancakes. The Avena has banana oat pancakes and they are beautiful light and fluffy. I really enjoyed these and had then with pumpkin on our last visit. My friend also loved two toast options. She enjoyed the Botanico and Iberica toasts with soft poached eggs and avacado. The cafe opens at 9 and sometimes items still being delivered if you there early. So once there was no rocket on her toast but she still loved it. The seating outside is on both sides of the road and vehicles Do get quite close. But they also provide entertainment as you watch vans etc trying to get up the adjacent narrow street. The seats are also on a slope but there is usually a canopy if it's wet. I'd seen fauna and flora on my first visit years ago to Lisbon, and I can't believe I'd never been here before. I really missed out, but won't make that mistake again!...
