We had such an awesome time at this family owned restaurant! You know you’ve come to the right place when locals are regular customers. Part of the fun of traveling is meeting wonderful locals who are happy to share their culture with you despite the language barrier which we found in this gem of a place. It all started with hubby asking the table next to us what they were drinking and ended with fun “Saúde (?cheers)” together.
Dont be intimidated by the stern patriarch of this joint, he really has a big heart. After chatting about his kids, we clicked with our universal concerns & love for our kids. Magdelena (?), his daughter who helps out the family business surprised us with her british accent:) she is gracious, kind and hospitable with a beautiful smile.
And now the food… the sea bream & sardines were super delicious and moist. You can tell the chef /matriarch puts a lot of love in her cooking. If you can handle spice, get her home made chili sauce. The bubbly Sangria was the best here with whole black raspberries. You really feel like part of the family eating here!
Oh and we sat outside in the corner with an amazing view of...
Read moreWe came across this restaurant today while exploring Belem. It completely surpassed all expectations. This is a family owned business, and all of the staff were so friendly and kind.
At first glance it may seem like it’s full just by looking at the outside patio, but there is a top level that is cooler and comfortable. We went around 2, and there wasn’t a wait. The service was excellent, and very impressive.
As for the food-the octopus was some of the best I’ve tried. It was the perfect amount of chewiness and with the seasoning it tasted like heaven. We also got the Pork Belly, Tuna Salad, and Grilled Bream. Those were also delicious. The portion sizes are huge and you will be sitting for a while trying to eat it all. Not a bad thing though.
If you’re looking for an awesome meal in Belem, check this out! There were lots of locals, and considering it’s right next to the monastery it’s...
Read moreI'm from Lisbon, so I must mention that I've eaten at this restaurant many times! And I have got to tell you how good it is!!
The restaurant is located perfectly next to the famous Jeronimos monastery... So, if you get a chance to eat here, don't pass up on sitting in the outside area, as you get to enjoy the monastery as a beautiful view! They sell their own version of the iconic pastel de nata, and its honestly so much BETTER than all the others!!! The dishes are well served and not only look, but taste delicious!! They now have locally made portuguese ice cream (Gelados de Portugal) that are soooo creamy with fun different flavours...they are to die for!!! The staff are always their kind, lovely selves, and...
