I flew back to Lisbon for this, and brought my parents this time (who are difficult to please :)) could not recommend it more. Hungry in Lisbon? You need not to search any further. After having tasted many restaurants in Lisbon (and Portugal in general) for the past 5 years, I’ve found the freshest ingredients, best atmosphere and service, and the craziest dish ideas here at Garrincha. You read it well- they do update/change their menu every. single. day. with the freshest ingredients, making dining here in consecutive days not even a bit less exciting. The team is dynamic, portions are very good (not like other fine dining restaurants where you pay a lot and receive little and leave hungry). Garrincha feeds you well, the service makes sure you’re always well taken care of. Even in the busiest days, the plates, bread, wine and service is overall excellently on time. Do yourself a favor and eat here if you’re ever in Lisbon. I can assure you,...
Read moreNew kid on the block, with great modern food and informal - yet very attentive service. I love what they did to modernize the décor without changing too much the old "tasca" vibe that used to be there until recently. Music was a plus, great latin tunes.
We had manchego cheese (really delicious, but at bit too heavy on the rosemary for my taste), tasty red pepper bruschettas with anchovies, amazing sweet and sour sardines, roasted leeks with blue cheese and a very creative affogato for dessert (that they very kindly offered, complimentary, just because they're nice).
A bit pricey (to be frank, all of the new generation dishes-to-share restaurants in Lisboa are a steep for locals) but quality is there!
Went back a year later and boy, it is expensive. I understand they cater for foodies willing to pay their price and good for them. However, tiny dishes to share at 20+ € and desserts at 10€ are really outrageous for this ambiance and...
Read moreWe arrived to friendly service, but the waitress asked if we were ready to order without first introducing the menu.
The deep-fried cantarilho was recommended as fully edible, but the bones weren’t digestible, leaving mostly batter. The real issue came with the monkfish—we ordered it about 20 minutes before the table next to us, yet they got theirs first. After multiple follow-ups and being told it was on the way, we waited over 30 minutes, only to see the grill wasn’t even lit.
For the price, a glass of wine as compensation felt inadequate. The front of house lacked leadership, and service was disorganized. A place positioning itself at this level should get the basics right—yet we were using paper napkins. We had a fantastic meal elsewhere in Lisbon the night before, which only highlighted the gaps here. Garrincha has a great concept, but it feels like a restaurant running on ambition rather...
