It was sweet relief after years of living in Europe and feeling crushed when I’d see the excuses for shawarmas in the chain and tourist-centric restaurants that seem to be everywhere. The star was of course the toum laden shawarma, but the supporting act of heart shaped falafel stole my own. I was doing silly happy chair dances with each bite. Not to mention, the shawarma was longer than my face, and I had to take it home. Despite being stuffed, I had to order the halawat al jibn, I couldn’t help myself. And what a wonderful decision.
