The best middle eastern food I've ever tasted in Portugal. Having had a taste of every dish on the menu, thanks to the unending sympathy of the host, I'm very much able to say that everything's amazing and prepared with much love and passion. From the falafel, to the hummus, to the mutabbal and the fava beans, all are great options, and I don't even like eggplant nor fava beans, still I loved these dishes on the menu. And if the food wasn't delicious enough, the service is equally outstanding, warming and inviting. Overall, this place's quality far surpasses the 5 star limit! The space itself is tiny, which is unfortunate, because as great as it is, I believe it won't take long before there are lines to eat there. However, having known the space before it was Joud, it has been very well recovered. Hopefully, real soon, there'll be a Joud II, III, IV, etc. I've already been here twice, and I'll certainly be coming back, since as far as middle eastern food goes, Joud blows the competition straight out of the water. Highly recommend it if you enjoy middle eastern and...
Read moreReally lovely food, perfect for vegetarians and vegans. Folks who have never tasted "real" falafel (vs the one you'd get at late night fast food joints...) should def come here and understand the difference. Joud's food tastes like the real deal, flavor packed, made from scratch... and served with such warm hospitality by the owner himself. I've been twice in just a couple of weeks and will for sure go back again. Looking forward for them to expand the menu, which I've heard they will! Must try: moutabal (tastes really smoky) and the "foul", that is, fava beans, which are not that easy to come by in other places. Make sure to ask for the home-made spicy sauce if you're into hot...
Read moreThis is hands down, the best Middle Eastern food I have had ever eaten. Until I ate at Joud, I didn’t know that Falafel could be moist on the inside! Any falafel I have had in Portugal, Europe or North America has been dry. The falafel at Joud is crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The flavor and creaminess of the hummas is beyond anything I have ever experienced, and the fatoosh salad was fresh, flavourful, and generous with the vegetables. The owners are kind, welcoming, and take so much pride in their food. Our visits to Lisbon will now revolve around a...
