Petiscaria Ideal — Restaurant in Lisbon

This place was recommended to us by our B&B and we are really glad it was!

It is only a small place, a little of the beaten track, but we'll worth tracking down. There are only a few individual tables, mainly long tables were you could be sat next to a stranger; however this adds to the experience!

More importantly, the food is absolutely amazing! They serve Portuguese tapas, petiscos. The portions here seem to be larger than in other places, however the quality is definitely not sacrificed. We had 5 meat and fish dishes between 2, which were more than enough and each one was superb!

We ordered the recommendations of Ideal Shrimp, seared tuna and beef sandwich. Tuna was great quality but flavours not quite there. Same for the beef steak, quality of meat very good and the meat was cooked well, but not seasoned, just cooked and put between bread with no sauce. Shrimps weren't deveined, and no serviettes for cleaning hands. Service was fine, but minimum expected. No condiments on table so you could season either. Absolutely loved this place! We got a bunch of things to share and some wine, it came with free olives. Our highlight were the "ideal" shrimp (which had a fantastic sauce), the pork stew with mashed potatoes and the beef steak on bread. Everything comes as sharing portions and they have great Portuguese wine. For dessert we had a fantastic apple crumble and chocolate mousse.
