My mother and I stayed in Lisbon for a few nights and found this gem just 2 mins away from our apartment. A small restaurant with few tables (so try and book online if you can) told me the food was likely to be good (it’s always the smaller, more intimate places that serve the best food!) and I can say the food was definitely fantastic. Antonio took such good care of us throughout the entire night and we enjoyed an amazing goats cheese starter, sea bass with French fries and mixed vegetables and finished off with a molten chocolate cake. The food was simple, not over complicated, and delivered in taste. The Portuguese ‘red bull’ also made a great ending to the meal. In fact, we even came back the next day without a reservation and Antonio was kind enough to serve us. This time I had the garlic and ginger prawns which were really tasty. I would definitely recommend putting this restaurant on your list if you find yourself in Lisbon!

Tucked away on Rua da Esperança 140, 1200-808, Lisboa, you will find a cozy, 6-table restaurant serving phenomenal food and wine, Invicta Madragoa! We started with the gambas ao alho com gengibre (prawns with garlic and ginger), which were HUGE and absolutely delicious. We tried hard not to devour them, but they were so tasty they didn't stand a chance. Our main course was the peixe fresco do dia (fresh fish of the day), which happened to be sea bream. It was outstanding, to say the least! Needless to say, there was nothing left on our plates. Our delicious wine from the Douro Valley rounded out our meal. The cozy atmosphere, extremely reasonable prices and the attentive service made this restaurant all the more special. They even ordered a taxi for us at the end of our meal. I'm SO glad we could eat at this hidden restaurant gem. We will definitely be back when we return to Lisboa! @marnfluencer

Sadly, not such a great experience. I would give it 2,5 Stars, because at least we only paid what we actually ordered (and got). Chaotic, but sadly not in a quirky way: the waiter just puts food down on your table, and even knowing that it’s not yours they’ll question you. “If you don’t want it, I can ask your neighbours, but that’s what I put down on the paper” Have to ask twice to actually get your drinks, ask twice to get cutlery. The food itself was good/ok. The mussels were too salty and sadly too many not open. It happens, but on top of everything it just isn’t too great. The end of out dinner was when we finished our fish/seafood mains and 20mins later we still were waiting for the steak to arrive. Especially sad because we already asked for it and it was “just finishing” - and still didn’t arrive 15mins after that. So we got the bill and left.

Probably one of the best resturaunts I've been to, in the world let alone in Lisbon, not just with the food but also passion and hospitality. The menu is just the right size and selection and is everything you could dream of when it comes to hearty, homecooked food. It's the heavenly dream of any hungry pescatarian.

The experience is perfected by a beautiful, cozy setting tucked away in Madragoa, and the empassioned and fascinating conversations with Antonio on wines and food from allover Portugal leaves you feeling humbled by their pure love of what they do. Their knowledge of food and drink is only surpassed by the clear pride in what Portugal has to offer the world and for that, I am truly in awe of.

This isn't just a resturaunt, it's like walking into a family get together at Christmas or Midsummer. The wonderful, kind and ultimately talented couple that run Invicta are the best friends everyone should hope for.

Thank you both for making our stay in Lisbon 100% more special than we could ever have hoped for. This resturaunt is the main reason I plan on returning to Portugal as soon as I can.

I am a bit disappointed after the visit - the food was ok but not very special what I would expect after reading comments. The gentelman was indeed very nice bit he had to take care about the whole restaurant so he forgot our order and brought us something that we didn't want to have. Also because of that the service was very slow. Another weird thing to me is that it seems that the restaurant ran out of some producta and the service man was regullary going to the shop nearby - if he bought only water it would be fine, but he went also to buy tomatoes to our salad just after asking us if we ordered tomatoe salad. From that kind of restaurant I would expect a conscious choice of best quality products and not buying them in a random shop. Last, but not least the place is very small so if there is a group of people who behave loud, it's immediately becomes loud at the whole restaurant so that it's hard to talk. Also they wanted to fit a 6 person table near us so that there was no space between me and other guy and everyone who was going out of the restaurant was touching me...

Absolutely love the ambience in this small stone walled restaurant. We received excellent service from the waiter too, including a complimentary drink to start and finish.

The food was a little bit hit and miss, I’m not sure if my expectations were too high given the glowing reviews. We had a starter of egg and chicken mince (I forget the name), this was delicious and we had never tried before. We also had bread and olive oil.

My partner ordered the octopus and rice, this was very tasty. The broth was delicious. I had the grilled octopus with vegetables and potato. I personally was disappointed with my dish as I do not believe that the octopus was particularly fresh, it was chewy and had an almost ammonia like smell. I have had octopus many times previously and this wasn’t the tender meat that I was expecting given the reviews.

The wine paring suggested by our waiter was excellent with our food though.

Overall, maybe I would be willing to try another time as it may have just been my dish, or maybe my expectations were too high, but I was definitely underwhelmed by...
