Pizzaria Luzzo — Restaurant in Lisbon

On our previous visit here with my family, we really liked it — we even considered coming back from time to time. However, after our most recent experience on Friday, I don’t think we feel the same way anymore.

First of all, the waiter who attended to us was friendly at the beginning, but the cloth he used to wipe the table had an unpleasant smell (probably because it had been left damp for a while and developed a musty odor). We politely asked him to wipe the table again, and he did.

As a starter, the olives that were served had a strange texture — most likely because they had just come out of the fridge, and the olive oil looked odd. Also, the plate with the butter looked a bit dirty, and there was something unusual inside that I couldn’t quite identify.

The pizzas were delicious — we really enjoyed them. The lemonade tasted like pure lemon juice with water added. I’m not deducting any points for that, because maybe that’s how it’s made here, but it just didn’t suit my personal taste.

As I mentioned, the pizzas were excellent — absolutely PERFECT. But after the table incident, the previously friendly waiter who had given us great service during our last visit seemed noticeably less cheerful. In fact, when we were leaving, he didn’t even hold the door open — we had to push it ourselves to exit.

Of course, everyone can have a bad day, and no one can be cheerful all the time. But since this change in attitude happened after the table incident, we just wanted to share that we didn’t leave as satisfied this time.

The food and the service was amazing! As a non Portugese speaker, they handled my wishes very well by giving me and my fellow guests an english menu. The waitress that helped us spoke great English and helped us out a lot. We started out with the focaccia which was great and even though it doesn't seem like much it really fills you up. After that I took the pizza Poppy (with buffalo mozzarella) and it was great; the base nicely thin and crisp and the toppings well balanced. O local é moderno e apresenta um estilo muito acolhedor e sóbrio. A mistura de preto com tons quentes da madeira e muita luminosidade faz-nos sentir relaxados quando entramos e somos levados à nossa mesa. O staff é muito amável e sorridente, sempre pronto a responder a quaisquer dúvidas ou questões. Prestativo e rápido nos pedidos, entrando em brincadeira connosco. O menu é eclético sendo que podemos escolher entre pizzas, saladas e massas (com foco nas pizzas diria), sem ser too much em questão de quantidade de oferta. Pedimos um pouco de tudo: pizza com base fina é muito boa, equilibrada em sabores; a salada de camarão é bastante completa e apresenta sabores frescos que conjugam bem entre si; por fim as massas deixam-nos a sentir bastante saciados. Coloco uma pequena crítica ao prato Fusilli com molho pesto, a massa muito bem cozinhada no ponto (al dente), a burrata a acompanhar com amêndoas laminadas fica divinal, porém parece ser um pedaço muito grande de burrata para o prato em si, e não consegui terminar toda. Quanto ao molho, o pesto estava ótimo mas achei que tinha muito azeite ou outro componente do molho a marinar no prato ficando um pouco enjoativo no fonal quando a massa se tornava saturada com esse molho. Ganache para sobremesa e estava ótima mas a massa poderia ser um pouco mais grossa para o valor apresentado e tamanho, achei-a muito fina.
