During our recent visit to Solar da Gula in Lisbon, we had the pleasure of experiencing an exceptional dining experience. We ordered Bacalhau as Lascas com Broa, Espetada de Salmão, and Choco Grelhado, and every dish was a delight.

The Bacalhau as Lascas com Broa was a standout with its perfectly seasoned and tender cod, complemented beautifully by the crumbly broa. The Espetada de Salmão was equally impressive, featuring succulent salmon skewers grilled to perfection. The Choco Grelhado was another highlight, with the grilled cuttlefish being both flavorful and tender.

The service was impeccable, with Dalia, our waiter, providing warm, attentive, and friendly service that enhanced our dining experience. Her knowledge of the menu and excellent recommendations made our meal even more enjoyable.

Nothing fancy, but simple. Simple, but good. All orders were served in no time. The beer stood right in front of me only a minute after I asked for it. And the food preparation took less than ten minutes. All staff was nice and helped me to bridge the language gap. Since the place was well visited by a lot of locals while lunch time you can be assured that they’re good in what their doing. For reasonable 11.40 € I had a small beer, grilled tuna with spinach and roasted potatoes and a typical coffee. The dish was good but not exciting. The potatoes could have been more heated and given the fact that it wasn’t the same measure all over, the tuna steak was everything between to dry and juicy. I chose this spot because it’s close to Parque das Nações, my friends were staying at a nearby hotel, and we wanted something just a short drive away. It’s nearby the busy shopping mall, yet the surrounding neighborhood feels like a step back in time, with its charming, old-style architecture. Is it the best place I’ve ever been? No. But it’s definitely worth a visit. The shrimp were decent, the sauce was flavorful, the clams—though small, were tasty, and the octopus, slightly overcooked, was still very good. Their white sparkling (pressurized) wine was surprisingly fair, perfect for a warm summer evening. All in all, the experience was absolutely worthwhile.
