Pastella — Restaurant in Madalena

We stopped in first thing in the morning and the cases looked quite bare (not sure if they weren't set up yet or were already sold out). Ultimately we were able to snag a light breakfast which included the following:

Chorizo pastry that was satisfactory Ham and cheese build your own sandwich left a bit to be desired Simple omelet was the best option as it came with a side salad and french fries American coffee and iced latte were also satisfactory

We did greatly appreciate the candor of the host who helped us navigate our order as we did not speak...

Feb 7 2024: AMAZING: fresh great food with great staff. I had the lunch special with fresh fish, salad, and potatoes. Delicious. So good. Had chick pea soup of the day. Mmmmm. Good food worth any wait time which was minimal. Food shops cannot control tourist rushes but lots of locals there. Going to all 9 Azores islands and this cafe is high on my list to return over the next few days. Great dessert selection. Exemplary efficient staff. Helpful. Well run. Busy. Over the road from the main church. A place worth more than 5...

Service is very slow, no order whatsoever, the restaurant was empty and we had to wait 40 MINUTES for a bitoque. When the restaurant is full be ready to wait hours for you food. Very very poor service, the employees talk in stead of working and they probably pay people to give them good rates because it is impossible that this place has more than 2 stars. Very disappointed. I came here to eat 1 hour before an appointment and I missed my appointment. If you want to eat here BE READY TO WAIT AT LEAT 1 HOUR...
