Requinte Francesinhas — Restaurant in Matosinhos

WOW! Amazing francesinha lunch at this local gem, Requinte. We came here in November on a tip from our Uber driver for having the most picante version. The parking was easy nearby as it was a slow rainy weekday. Recommend small plate of fries and half salad with it. Bottle of white wine & 2 espressos included, this was around €32 euros. If you don’t want a whole bottle of wine, specify one glass (copo), etc. We took the bottle of remaining wine home which was very nice, as we had come on an empty stomach & left very full & happy. This is a nice stopping point if you are renting a car from Porto airport. You can stop at Lidl to buy some staples, and then come here for the absolute best Francesinha in town! Highly recommend.

November 1 - a public holiday. Nice and modern restaurant, a few tables are already taken. Local families and older couples from the neighbourhood. The slightly grumpy waiter immediately makes clear they only have francesinha and nothing else but franesinha this specific day. Well, that's what we came for. However the taste and the quality is far away from another francesinha we had before, for our taste the sauce is too much on the ketchup-side, and the whole thing is somehow oversized. Infelizmente foi uma má experiência. Como profissional de gastronomia fico triste por ver colegas de profissão servirem algo que nem consigo adjectivar. Chegamos com grandes expetativas especialmente a minha mulher que nunca tinha provado. O primeiro sinal de alerta foi quando passados apenas 5 minutos depois do nosso pedido já nos tinham servido a francesinha. O que para mim e segundo disse a minha mulher "queres ver que já as têm feitas"?. O segundo sinal de alerta foi quando 2 senhores sentaram-se na mesa ao lado quando já nos tinham servido e estava a minha mulher a publicar o vídeo da nossa tão desejada refeição quando olhei para o lado eles já estavam a comer. O que aumentou a minha suspeita de que as francesinhas já estão feitas muito antes da chegada dos clientes. Infelizmente não conseguimos comer metade. Quando me dirigi a caixa para pagar 28 euros mal gastos, olhei para a janela de serviço e foi quando pude ver um tabuleiro com francesinhas feitas (retiradas do forno) onde a cozinheira apenas despejava uma concha de molho a escaldar por cima e sai mais uma francesinhas para os próximos clientes.
