We had a relaxing stay in room 104. It comes with a bigger balcony ( deckchair+2 chairs) and is facing the ocean sidewise. Afternoon and evening sun, less windy. Great to sit on. During our stay end of May wasn't a single deckchair out at the beach!!! We were the lucky ones. For check in you need to stop/ unload in front of the hotel, fetching the access card for the garage at Praia hotel( 10/15min walk) and walk back. You have to do this every time you take the car out of the garage!!!! A bit annoying. But at least they provide parking. The room had a good size, big wardrobe and comfy beds. Bathroom was ok, we could turn around. Very clean and huge towels. At day time a lot is going on outside-remember first beach row. Nighttime was very calm and quite, sleeping with open window was very ok. Next door is a nice common living room- facing the ocean. Good for chilly evenings to have a drink. Breakfast was good. Bread selection, cold cut, cheese, jam and fruit plus yogurt. Juice selection and coffee/ tea.
One evening we had dinner at the restaurant- you get 10% discount- good wine selection. Fish stew is the signature dish, we had squid and sardines. Both very good, a bit underseasoned though. We can only...
Read moreFirst, beware that the rooms are tiny. Not small, tiny. But, they are clean. Note, there is a lot of street noise. Till 1 am. |My biggest problem was the reservation. Bottom line, I did not get the room I wanted or thought I reserved. I was put in the smallest room in the hotel, ocean front, but ridiculously small. |They were able to move me to a slightly larger room, but not ocean front and on the lowest floor. The new room was $40 less per night. However, even though they put me in a cheaper room, they charged for the more expensive ocean front. They would not give the $120 credit. |I will of course go thru my credit card company to secure the |reimbursement. Note, they would not return an email and simply tried to ignore the problem until I really forced the issue. |They also made up a story about having to disinfect out room. That sent my wife over the edge. I would avoid this hotel. They are not worth the risk.|Also, we asked for a couple of restaurant recommendations. They said it was against their policy to give any other than their...
Read moreWe picked the Hotel Mar Bravo for its location and it was a really good choice. It's nice that it's at the end of the beach, especially since the weekend we were there (All Saints Weekend, and the last real holiday weekend of the season) was very, very crowded - it was good to be near the end and away from most of the crowds walking along the beachfront.|The hotel itself is lovely - rooms are newly redone and clean, with comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. My room had a view of the side street, the funicular up to the lighthouse, and the beach itself (see photos) - very nice.|Breakfast was also good - a full assortment of pastries, eggs, toast, cereals, etc., as well as coffee, tea and juices.|We especially loved that the hotel has free beach chairs and towels to lend. Even though it was too cold to go in the water, we were able to borrow chairs and towels and enjoy sitting on the beach for the morning. They also have a rack of donated books, in case you want something to read. |Just a lovely, charming beach hotel. Really enjoyed...
