AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!! Multiple extra items had been added to our bill, they’re either very negligent or very sneaky….

The service was incredibly slow, we had been sitting there for about 20 minutes before our order was taken. We’d gone up to the counter to order and was told off by the lady behind the till, and was told she wouldn’t take our order there.

Eventually our order was taken and then the mishaps truly started. Dishes were being served incorrectly, the food that did come was bland and the eggs were undercooked /slimey. I didn’t send it back as we were in a hurry (we only stayed there as it was a Sunday and not much was open for an early brunch).

The staff were incredibly rude. When I went to the counter to pay the lady made a big huff, and then proceeded to ignore me.. I then asked again to pay the bill, at this point we just wanted to leave, without looking at me she then passed the card machine and I paid.

I thought I best double check the bill before leaving, because of all of the mishaps and it was in Portuguese so I needed to translate it all and then found all the extra charges.

When I brought this to their attention, they were incredibly rude and clearly didn’t want to refund for the extra items. We had to keep on asking over and over again. They proceeded to ignore us, I said that we were in a hurry and I’d just appreciate the money owed because we had been waiting around for another 10 minutes at this point. When I was turned around talking to my family, they’d discreetly placed the money on the counter without telling me. It was very odd and bizarre behaviour. Truly weird.

I’d asked why they couldn’t tell me that the refund was there, or (better yet), bring it to our table, along with an apology.

The man, who I assume was the manager, was so incredibly rude, I said that manners didn’t cost a thing and he just stood there laughing. A very strange man.

Having waitressed myself for 7 years, I understand the industry and I cannot fathom giving such poor service and then being so...

I love this place. everything is relative in life of course, but in the landscape of the azores, this is one of the few places that have taken a permanent spot in my heart as a go to place. The menu is rich and you can have pretty much everything you can imagine, from a nice rich salad, to a pizza a burger, a toast, an eggs benedict, a steak or a cod-based dish. Or of course a coffee with a little sweet treat. the variety of pastelaria is quite rich as well, the pasteis de nata are some of the best i've tried on the island and they offer different variations as well with chocolate or passionfruit. I highly recommend the chocolate - pudding cake if you like pudding and chocolate, i've never seen it before and I loved it. both the burgers and the pizzas are very well made, mostly everything they do is pretty well made, and it also has a chill calm vibe, where you can sit with your laptop and work if you want...

One of the best spots on the island without a doubt and in general one of my favorites in Portugal.

Why?

First off, it’s chill but not with the beaten down Portuguese vibe , and has a great view. It’s adequate for a morning coffee , a business meeting, a date, a lunch or a quick dinner! The food is great and as I said, they cater to any time and mood of the day and everything is well done without exception, the pizzas, the main dishes like roasted chicken, the salads, the ‘crunchy’ Burke type meals, the brunches , be it the eggs Benedict or the carne desfiada , the hamburgers , and of course the sweets!!

Possibly the best Pastel de nata on Sao Miguel. I also highly recommend the chocolate pudding cake!!

Keep up...

Better than a Portuguese “nata” is an Azorean passion fruit “nata” at this cozy, friendly and innovative restaurant with great service, and patio with an amazing ocean view. Pair it with a passion fruit Kima on the rocks and you have the perfect sweet, creamy/crunchy and refreshing snack, with perfectly balanced passion fruit flavor on a hot Summer afternoon. Other house delicacies include: pineapple “natas”, pineapple/fruit round King’s cake and Ponta Delgada tarts to name a few. The restaurant manages to retain long standing staff, particularly the one behind the counter, always with a sunny disposition and a stubborn Brazilian accent. A place to visit, savor and enjoy every time you visit downtown Ponta Delgada.

I would rate it 4.5 stars if that was an option. The food was fine. Soup was not that great, but it was warm. Some of the dry peas in the soup were still hard. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is OK but nothing memorable. I ordered a chicken sandwich that was just plain - no onion, celery, seasoning, etc. I added cheese and onion. They charged 1.10€ for onion! Ridiculous. The carob bread was good and I think baked in house. They had lots of pastry options, but I did not try anything. Good location. They need to improve their napkins!

Stopped here for a drink to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine on a patio. Thought we would add a little snack to go with. Can't go wrong with olives and garlic bread in Portugal...right?......wrong! Olives tasted like canned, pitted, black olives with a little oregano sprinkled on top. The garlic bread had mayo or processed cheese spread or something mixed in and topped uninspiring bread. Service inatentive and they forgot the water we ordered. A fail. Lots of other better places around.
