Restaurante Cervejaria Donatello — Restaurant in Ponta Delgada

What a nice place to get a view. We initially thought this was going to be a treat but it was all but that! Apparently our waiter could speak English but not comprehend it. The first red flag was the waiter was trying to up sell. We did not want alcoholic beverages or coffee much to the waiters surprise. When ordering I inquired as to the size of the ceasar salad and was told the size of a ceral bowl. Then I asked if it included chicken. The waiter said no so chicken fried steak was decided on...with no salad. My friend ordered beef tenderloin. Was told our plates included potatoes and rice. About 35 minutes later the waiter delivered a huge salad with chicken in it enough for 4 people. Then gave my friend a chicken cream plate with an egg on top. We explained this was not what we ordered. The waiter said yes it is and walked away. We decided he must have the tables mixed up so we called the waiter back. He insisted the order was right and then spoke with whom we assume was a manager. He said give us 5 minutes. We really wanted to just pay for our drinks. But trying to be gracious I insisted we stay. 20 minutes later the manager delivered our plates. He also threw in a basket with 4 rolls. We declined bread, butter, and cheese when we ordered so we did not touch them because we had no intention on paying for them. Sadly, the beef tenderloin was actually pork. We decided to eat it! We just wanted to leave. When we were done the waiter apologized. But we left baffled and felt we had landed in a tourists trap. We double checked the charges we had been charged for the bread. We refused the charge and it was removed. We received a sneer. We can not understand how everything got so mixed up. This had to be more than a language barrier. We will not be returning. Well... I hate those kind of places who spent a lot on marketing to attract you. Offer you a discount at the entrance and then ... You open the menu and the discounts are not there anymore. Well I swallowed it and ordered anyway something and ... "Sorry we don't have it" "no we don't have the alternative either" so why do you still show it on your menu? Every respectable place will always tell you what options are not available. And why do you advertise those options at the entrance of the restaurant if they are not available?

You end up feeling awkward of leaving the place after sitting there 10min...

This place needs a proper management because it seems they have no idea how restaurant work... Even McDonald's tell you when it's icemachine is broken and they cannot offer...

The fish was not cooked properly. It was in some parts raw. They use frozen fish and sell them as fresh. A bad experience. I was waiting around 20 minutes until someone went to my table and asked what I would like to have. I ordered squid some bread , butter olives and cheese. After 15 minutes they came and told me that I had to change my meal because they didn't had squid. I choose a different meal, suggestion on the employee. When the food came looked good but soon I realised the fish...
