Being honest we’d never normally pick to go to an Indian on holiday (or ever take time to review anything), normally choosing more authentic cuisine to the region. As it was Sunday so a lot were closed, we opted to try Komal as we’d walked past a number of times and admired the setting and decor. Honestly, could not be happier that we chose to eat here. We’ve had many Indians but would go as far to say this was by far the best ever. Flavour, level of spice and herbs, fresh produce and most importantly incredible staff and service. Could not have asked for nicer people. The owner even travelled to the restaurant as a waiter met a couple next to us from Holland who had not eaten Indian before so didn’t know what to order. The owner had lived in Holland so came all the way from home to advise on the menu and made sure to speak to every person in the restaurant whilst he was there.
Such a highlight of our holiday and great way to end our last night. Highly recommend!
I hope that even though it’s only been open since March, it doesn’t loose its amazing staff or quality of food as it grows...
Read moreWow... Coming from a Punjabi background myself and visiting many Indian restaurants and a lifetime of home cooking, I can say the food served was the BEST authentic Punjabi food we as a family have ever ate. The lamb rara, the chicken pakoreh, the paneer pakoreh were out of this world.
The owner is a lovely respectful man who greeted me and my family on both of our visits and was so caring.
Anmol - one of the servers was amazing, he went above and beyond. Cannot praise him enough. He was also so welcoming which made us visit a second time in 4 days of visiting Portimao. The decor of this place is amazing and way more aesthetically pleasing than any other Indian restaurants in Portimao, which also enhances the experience.
Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Portimao and surrounding areas.
Thank you Komal Restaurant, the owner and Anmol, may God...
Read moreI was looking at restaurants in Portimão, trying to be unbiased and open to trying some Portuguese food.
Well, then I stumbled upon this restaurant.
The food was incredible. My girlfriend and I had the Chicken 65 as a starter, and it was amazing. For the main course, we had the Southern-style Tikka Masala with rice and garlic bread with cheese. And let me tell you, that was phenomenal. Be sure to share it because we were absolutely full after that!
It leans a bit on the pricier side, but not too much. The drinks were the most expensive part, but the food itself was reasonably priced (beers and a liter of water).
The staff was amazing, and our waiter was super talkative and friendly. Kudos to him, really! (Wishing Manchester United all the best next season 😁)
I’d definitely highly recommend this place if...
