Great little place for a morning coffee or a bit of brunch. That's what we did anyway. You can go there any time for some really nice, fresh food, which is all made and prepared on the premises by hand, including the bread and pastries!
It can be a little busy but turnover of customers is often quick enough that you don't have to wait long. People seems to move tables and chairs around to suit, so slightly larger numbers are also OK.
Nice coffee, smoothies, pastries. Off the food menu I had the breakfast bagel - twice (different days though). I also had a breakfast, which I took a rather good photo of. The bagel was a sesame seed bagel. inside were sausage, bacon, egg and cheese. It was amazing. Every mouthful... that's why I had it twice! The breakfast was good too.
The family tried salmon, avocado and egg. Also, a ham and cheese croissant. All were really good. Oh and the yoghurt, salad and muesli bowls are good too. Big portions in a big bowl. Might have been granola type stuff though and not muesli.
My only slight niggle though - service is slloooooww. They are often busy and everything is fresh, so maybe I need to be more patient. I am not one for sitting around chit chatting, forgetting I ordered food because the coffee is so good and the company is fantastic. I get in, order, eat and leave.
Actually there is one more niggle. If you sit near the open window or door, be prepared to have cigarette smoke wafting in your general direction, while you eat. Although those who still smoke sit outside, the breeze, if you are lucky enough to have one when it is stinking hot, will carry the smoke inside. It's a bit like sitting on the top deck of the number 5 bus years ago, as a kids - thinking that the stench of burning nicotine all around you, in your lungs, impregnating your clothes and skin is normal. OK, not quite and I digress. If someone is smoking outside, don't sit near the window, unless you want to experience their après-coffee gaff while you eat.
The owner and staff are friendly and service, albeit a little slow (quite slow) is good too - they bring your food and drinks to your table and bring you ketchup and stuff. Nice!
This place became our go to stop off for breakfast or a coffee on many mornings...
Read moreI went 2 times to this bakery.
The first experience was good and the second time was not that good.
The first time the waiter was friendly and helpfull.
The second time the same waiter served us and this time he was not that friendly and gave answers that were a bit strange for me. We asked for 1 coffee with milk, 1 normal coffee, 2 natural orange juices, 1 baguette, 1 "pão de leite" with cheese, 1 "pão de deus" with ham, onde piece of cake and one pie. The waiter brought us the incorrect order. The "pão de deus" was with cheese and the "pão de leite" was with ham. The waiter asked us to change it ourselves. The natural orange juices were full with ice and one of the juices was having a fly in it. The waiter made an inappropriate joke that it came with extra protein and had no intention of changing it. We had to ask if he could bring us a new juice. The juice had the taste of water, só I explained him that I cannot drink tap water and he should not put ice and water in the orange juice without asking or explaining this to the client. The waiter informed me that I should have informed him to put no ice in the juice. What was strange for me is I asked for a natural orange juice this means without ice. The last thing that happend is the waiter forgot to give us the pie and when we asked for it he told us we haddend payed for it. But unfortunately for him we saved the bill and showed him that we had payed for it.
The toilet was clean. The bread, coffee and cake was good. Fresh and how it should be.
I went a second time to this bakery because the first time was good. But I will not go a third time. This place doesn't pay attention to allergies and hygiene, so if this is important for you I don't...
Read moreWe walked from Portimao to Alvor mostly by the sea, but some of the paths were a wee bit tricky so we headed along some roads, got into Alvor and had a look around. Headed down to the bay area which was really nice. Fancied something to eat but felt all these place seemed very touristy (yes we are tourists) so we headed back into the town and up a few streets then found this place. Had a look inside to see what was available, noticed some empanadas which were vegetarian, to that added a salad and garlic cheese bread and hand made chips. All the food was amazing. Chips were hand made and the salad was cous cous with mozzarella and pesto with tomato and rocket. Toast of alioli and melted cheese on top. Empanadas were superb, the pastry was very light and crispy. The staff member was very accommodating with my terrible attempt to speak Portuguese. Lol. Great meal for under €20 euros with two bottles of sparkling water. Ate so much we couldn't handle the wonderful looking sweets/desserts on offer. Felt terrible. Great place would recommend. Cheers...
