The staff was very friendly, nice and always tried his best. The food was a bit disappointing from the value point of view. After trying a few restaurants in Porto, the food that was served seemed a bit over priced for the quality.
We had the sardines toast, which we were told was fresh sardines. We didn't feel it was fresh but more like from a tin.
The salmon was overcooked and therefore perhaps only worth €20 instead of €25.
The seafood rice was highly recommended to us but it was quite a bit of disappoiment in terms of ingredients as they are not the freshest. It does not feel worth the €20 but perhaps €16-18.
The most concerning was, however, the head chef's way of cooking. I was seated in the basement facing the kitchen. I could see the head chef (well, the one that was calling out from the pass, telling the other chef what to do and doing the plating) doing all his work. On one occasion, I saw him plating using his fingers and then put some condiment or whatever he was plating to his mouth. I didn't think too much but a few minutes later, I saw him licking his finger probably because it caught some sauce. Now that started to concern me from the hygiene point of view. Maybe I watched too much Master Chef but I expect them to use utensils to taste food if they need to, and if his finger gets dirty from sauce, he should wipe it on his apron instead of licking his finger which is then used to...

Lovely tasting pork which was quite expensive when the main course (chefs special pork with sauce ) at 20 euros comes with no accompaniment. It was very tasty but initially was undercooked...
The waitress asked if the food was ok so we told her about the undercooking... it was immediately whisked away and came back cooked better and hotter. The grilled veg also were just potatoes so when queried she said it was wrong so proper veg arrived and more potatoes as the rice and pots on my plate had disappeared when my pork was being recooked.
When the pork returned and the veg they couldn't do enough to rectify. The taste was superb and they gave us a couple of shots of port with the bill. Btw they also charge for the water which we were not expecting given the price... It comes from a filtration tap but at 5 euros for the two of us I questioned it .. then it was dropped to half. So consider the price of the water too...
Overall the staff really tried hard to ensure we were happy. The food when cooked and effort to rectify earned 4 stars although with the other bits we mentioned despite the taste of food being good were would have preferred to give 3.5 stars.
We paid 65 euros for a main course and 2 sides.. no bread or starter and the entry bottle of wine which was 17 euros. This is an honest overall review which I...
Read moreWe came here with really high expectations because of all the great reviews. The décor is amazing, and I loved hearing the story behind the restaurant from the staff — every detail has clearly been thought through, and the presentation of the dishes is stunning (9/10 easily).
But unfortunately, the flavours didn’t match the looks. We ordered the salmon with sweet potato puré, the cod, a steak and a burger. The salmon was very under-seasoned and the mango chutney didn’t really fit. The sweet potato purée had a cumin flavour that clashed with the rest. The cod looked great on the plate with potatoes and kale salad, but it was very dry and overall lacking flavour. The steak and burger were fine, but nothing special.
The staff themselves were very nice and friendly, however service in general wasn’t great — we waited about 45 minutes for the food to arrive, and at one point the waiter even asked me to help put the food plates on the table. For a place with such high ambitions, that felt off.
It really seems like all the effort went into the presentation and concept, but not enough into the taste or experience. Honestly, I would rather have had less effort put into making pretty dishes, and more into ensuring they are packed with flavour. Beautiful restaurant and great idea, but the food and service left us...
