TLDR: Not authentic and very pricey for what it is. Note: I am from Taiwan so I'm probably harsher.
They got the actual Bao right (the bun that wraps the meat) so that's a start.
The cod fish bao was fine and I actually liked it.
The traditional gua bao was just....odd. The ingredients were all there though e.g. pickled mustard greens, peanut powder, coriander but the colour of the meat was just off. It wasn't dark enough like they didn't put enough soy when braising it. The taste profile was mostly there but there was just something missing that I couldn't quite put my fingers on. My husband complained that it tasted gamey, like they didn't blanche it properly. It's also way too fatty and too much of the pork belly than what you would normally put in gua bao.
We also had the Formosan salad. That was ...bland and uninteresting. Literally just chopped cabbage tossed in light sauce.
I was initially excited for the mango Boba tea only to find a very sugary, artificial mango drink with these weird balls that contains more of the mango artificial liquid inside. I'm assuming the owner thought the actual tapioca balls would be too much for the locals but seriously, how do you not put actual pearls if you're going to do pearl drinks?
We didn't get the ru rou fan (minced pork rice) due to the 8EUR price tag. The photos we saw online also just didn't look like minced pork rice so we skipped it to be on the safe side.
They also don't accept foreign cards. Just cash and Portuguese cards.
It's a chill place but just way too pricey for what it's serving.
If you're Taiwanese, maybe just come here for the cod fish bao because why not since you're in Porto but don't actually expect...
Read moreWhat an experience that I had here! These burgers definitely exceeded my expectations when they got in my mouth. I tried the main one and the one with crab. Both awesome with different ingredients than we are used to see in a burger, however they are not very big, so I advise you to try the ships, especially, the ones of sweet potato with Wasabi mayo. When I tried these...Oh God...never had tried something like that before...Believe me, if you like the flavor of Wasabi, you will love it! About the atmosphere, the decoration was really simple and industrial (really matches with the concept), open small kitchen and you have a 2nd floor underground. In the end I have a complain about the staff. When I was having my lunch I could hear them talking about their lives so loud as they were talking to the whole restaurant. However the girl that attended me was really welcoming and she was very good at suggesting the dishes...gave her personal opinion which means she knows the dishes and that is really important when you are trying to sell something. To conclude, if you like to try new things and you like the oriental food culture, you should give it a chance. And it's not very...
Read moreIf you're looking for a Taiwanese restaurant in Porto, here it goes. I was able to get a delicious Bao in Porto, and wouldn't ask for more :) my choice was tofu Bao, fries with cheese and onions sauce with a craft beer 🍻 the staff are really attentive, make you feel comfortable and explain you about the content of the dishes on their menu. You can see them doing it, as it have a transparent screen. Plus with covid19 they are prepared to receive everyone with safety 👍🏻 I really enjoyed and felt comfortable, as they really respected the distance between tables. They also have cool tables outside. I would back for sure. Btw, decoration it's really nice :) loved the yellow vibe inside of the restaurant with a wall with 2 clocks having timezone in Porto and the other one in Taiwan. PS. I recommend you to reserve if you want to eat in the restaurant, but they also do take away and...
