Café Telheiro — Restaurant in Porto

As we are living near the Bonfim neighborhood, we stopped into this cafe for a late lunch. We were the only non-Portuguese there, so we though it might have more of a local flavor (indeed, it did)! They were sold out of sardines ( a Portuguese favorite) so I had the tuna salad and John had chicken and salad (usually served with fresh baked bread and rice) but ordered "a la keto". Both were fantastic. We were served two carafes of wine, cheese with marmalade, all for 8 euro apiece! What a lovely experience, Jorge, our waiter, the highlight of the afternoon. Café Telheiro serves delicious traditional Portuguese food! The owners were so personable and the place was spotless. Service was prompt.
