Dining at this restaurant is far more than just having a meal – it is a complete experience of elegance, craftsmanship, and culinary artistry. From the very first moment, the sense of refinement is evident: the sophisticated ambiance, the beautifully set tables, and the impeccably trained staff who manage to strike the perfect balance between attentiveness, discretion, and expertise.
The cuisine itself is a true celebration of flavors, textures, and aesthetics. Each dish is composed with remarkable precision, offering not only outstanding taste but also a visual feast. • Starters: The beef tartare with egg yolk was a masterpiece of simplicity and technique – perfectly seasoned, delicate in texture, and full of depth. The carpaccio, sliced paper-thin, melted effortlessly on the palate, enhanced by subtle accents of cheese and fresh garnish. The seafood and vegetable starters were equally impressive, showcasing both creativity and balance – each plate felt like a miniature work of art. • Main Course: The meat dish stood out as a highlight: perfectly cooked, tender, and accompanied by a rich, dark sauce that elevated it to another level. The vegetables were vibrant and full of flavor, while the layered potato side offered a wonderful interplay of crispiness and creaminess. This was classic French-inspired cuisine, reinterpreted with modern elegance. • Desserts: The grand finale was an array of sweets that reflected both tradition and innovation. From the refreshing sorbet to the beautifully composed tarts and the delicate crêpe served in a light vanilla sauce, every element was refined and thoughtful. Each dessert struck a careful balance of sweetness, texture, and lightness – a perfect ending to the menu.
What truly sets this restaurant apart is not only the flawless execution but also the presentation of each dish: every plate arrived as a visual composition, proof that aesthetics and flavor can be seamlessly united.

Read moreI will get this out of the way first, the food in Cafeina is delicious, well made, and well presented. All while still being a bit below the standard promised. Service, however, was more of a disservice. Truly disappointing. Staff could have been friendlier and far more attentive, perhaps by ordering soft drinks (my date and I both are sober) we must have upset them, perhaps it was an off day but alarms go off.
First of all they served room temp cans of soda and left them for us to pour on the side, not to mention beyond long waits between dishes, waiting to order, waiting to pay etc. (and we come from Spain). Staff seems too casual, chatty and disassociating behind the bar when we needed to call them over.
I, for one, do not remember ever going to a restaurant of this scale and have them serving warm cans, and being so inattentive to their customers. It seems at this point that Michelin is just handing out stars all willy-nilly, what a shame.
If I were to recommend this restaurant (I wouldn't) I would tell them to lower their expectations by a mile, but they have some decent...
Read moreFrench style upmarket restaurant. The entrance isn't disabled or baby friendly as you need to walk up stairs. However the staff assisted with bringing the buggy into the restaurant. There is a kids menu which my 1 year old enjoyed. I had the mushroom and goats cheese pitithier. The pastry was lovely and delicate and the filling very nice. It was accompanied with griddled cabbage in a mustard and cream type sauce which helped balance the filling. My husband had the Beef Burginion. The veal was lovely and succulent and the sauce delicious. For dessert we had the chocolate cake with sour cream ice cream and the apple tart tartin. The chocolate cake was very generous and was super rich and delicious. Would definitely recommend. The Apple Tart was served with toffee and cream.
No baby change facilities but the staff allowed me to use the sofa space upstairs in private to change my daughter.
Yes an expensive menu by Portuguese standards and with small portion sizes but the food is exquisite and...
