As many will tell you, spending time in Porto is a delight—but choosing where to eat can be daunting. In a city where many restaurants cater mainly to tourists, not all live up to their reputation. Thankfully, A Casa da Picanha – Rodizio Brazilian Steakhouse is a true exception and quickly became one of my absolute favorites during my visit to Portugal. You won’t find it hidden among the typical tourist traps. Instead, it’s conveniently located on a main street, making it easy to reach from almost anywhere in the city. If you’re after something formal or high-end, this may not be your spot. But if you’re a food lover who values authentic local establishments, excellent food, and genuine hospitality, Casa da Picanha is a must. I booked a table through WhatsApp and received a prompt, friendly reply. The restaurant itself is simple and unassuming, but the moment you step inside, the warmth of the staff makes you feel instantly welcome. Once we were seated, the real fun began—we ate to our hearts’ content, so definitely come hungry! The grilled meats were outstanding—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The drinks were just as impressive; my friends were thrilled to find Caipirinhas on the menu and couldn’t stop raving about them. Paolo, the owner, personally came by several times to check in and make sure everything was perfect, which made the experience feel even more special. Honestly, part of me wants to keep this gem to myself, but it deserves to be shared. I’ll absolutely be returning the next time I’m in Porto, and I’ve already heard there’s another restaurant by the same owner across town that I plan to try as well. If you’re in Porto, do yourself a favor and visit Casa da Picanha—you won’t be...
Read moreThe meat was good, albeit the variety was not as high. The staff is very welcoming, friendly, and attentive. They were even so patient to bear with my broken Portuguese. The location itself is small and cozy. We had the Rodizio "Só Casa Picanha" for 25 EUR per person, which included chicken, pork, and beef filet. We got 1 chicken, 3 types of pork, 4 types of beef, and 1 pineapple. When another group of eight guests came into the restaurant, the frequency of meat at our table lowered significantly, which is probably due to the capacity of their shop. Our meal came with the side dishes beans, rice, chips, plantain, and kale. They were very good and we enjoyed them. We ordered extra salad (lettuce, tomato, onion) and it was nicely dressed. Surprisingly, the almost best part of the meal was the dessert: they have an amazing lemon cheesecake that they make themselves. Try it, if you have a chance! Note: When we entered the shop, we saw a platter with bread, olives, cheese, cold cut already set on the table. We asked the staff to take it back and it...
Read moreIf you’re looking for an authentic Brazilian dining experience, A Casa da Picanha is absolutely the place to go! The quality of the meats is simply outstanding. Every cut, from the tender picanha to the juicy sausages and perfectly seasoned chicken, was cooked to perfection. You can really taste the care that goes into grilling each type of meat.
The Caipirinha deserves special mention as well — refreshing, perfectly balanced, and a great complement to the rich, savory meats. If you’re a fan of cocktails, don’t miss it!
What made the experience even more special was the attentiveness of the staff. They were always nearby to offer more cuts, ensuring we were enjoying ourselves without ever being intrusive. Every member of the team was friendly, professional, and made us feel like VIPs from the moment we arrived.
A Casa da Picanha is now my go-to spot for a delicious and authentic Brazilian steakhouse experience....
