I was in a hotel close by and i decided to visit motivated by the good reviews. It is a very small family restaurant, few tables inside and some outside. The place is packed during service time, i recommend to make a reservation. The food is interesting local dishes and i decided to take their recommention, "Arroz de mariscos" meaning something like "seafood rice". It is a boiled rice together with different types of seafood, such as shrimps, shells and others stuff, but this not like a Paella from Spain. All ingredients are cooked at perfection, the final food is a spacy rice broth full of seafood. Just be advised the rice has chilli peppers and my wife and i had the misfortune to chew some and it burns a lot. in case you have a pepper allergy or do not take strong peppers, do not order this dish. Another important point, the service is very kind but very slow. It took 50 minutes to serve the main course, but the waiter had already warned us when we ordered the dish. The explanation is that the dish is prepared at the time it will be served.

Read moreWe had an incredible lunch here. This restaurant has it all: delicious food, economic pricing, and excellent atmosphere.
This place is not touristy at all - everyone in the restaurant was local when we were there. The waiter spoke flawless English and was very excited to explain the menu and the various options. He also brought us a sample of Portuguese green wine after we asked him what it was. And the food...I had a delicious grilled sea bream that might be the best fish I have ever eaten. The crowd was also very friendly - a table next to us offered to let us try their lamprey dish for us, which is apparently a delicacy here and something the restaurant only does for parties with reservations.
When we got the bill, we couldn’t believe how low it was for how much we had eaten. We had multiple appetizers, drinks, dinner, and dessert (appetizers and dessert shared) and it was less than 40 € for four people.
Highly, highly recommended. By far the best restaurant we...
Read moreI was recommended this restaurant by a local and could not have been more pleasantly surprised! A tiny, family run restaurant, located right on the river, which makes for a lovely riverside walk from the main town. Much quieter and less touristy, the plates were authentic, fresh and simple - the service was wonderful and the atmosphere homely. If authentic, hearty home-style Portuguese food is what you’re looking for - this is the perfect place! Mains average at about €7-12 a plate (including sides), and my whole meal came to just €12 (and I left feeling very much satiated!). Just be aware that the restaurant has a small capacity so you may have to wait/book during peak times, and that they only take cash. The portions were perfect, and they had a great range of Portuguese fish and meat dishes. I could not recommend this place enough, as it made for a wonderful last evening in...
