I have never been treated so poorly in my life by an waiter. First, we arrived and even though we had booked with The Fork, they didn't have our table ready nor did they bother to confirm the reservation. They eventually managed and we sat. When the waiter (I'll call him “A” for privacy purposes) arrived at our table, he said that the kitchen was already closed and that they were only serving grill and bar. It wasn't explicit in the reservation that the kitchen closed after 10pm and, as such, we weren't expecting it but, as it was a busy night at the restaurant, we accepted. I didn't know what “bar and grill” was, as it wasn't explicit on the menu, so I asked “A” who just repeated “bar and grill” and turned his back on me, with terrible manners. Although I am Portuguese, my husband is not - when my husband asked “A” if he spoke English, he said he only spoke Portuguese. I tried to explain that we were only asking what was included in the grill and bar because it didn't say anything in the reservation about the kitchen closing at 10pm. “A” said he was not aware of any reservation and, when I tried to show him the TheFork application with the details, he refused to see it, not even looking at us nor the phone. When my husband and I resumed our conversation in English again, “A” interrupted us and began speaking in English to my husband. When we asked him if he spoke English or not, he replied with the greatest lack of decency “of course I speak English”. I have never been treated so badly by a restaurant employee in my life, specially in my own city. We refused to eat in the restaurant, asked for the complaints book and left. The manager was very friendly and attentive to us, apologizing profusely, but the situation was so macabre and almost reaching a racist level that I will never return to...
Read moreAlthough the place is very nice with good atmosphere. And the way serving was amazing ( you can see in the photos how nice was the serving "visually")
But unfortunately " Maybe we came late" the food was below average. The steak was not cooked ( I don't eat well cooked by the way) but this one was almost raw. The meat was not seasoned at all( even no salt). The vegetables were not grilled ( only one side burned).
Moreover, the meat was taste bad, not fresh at all.
The only dish which was acceptable was the cod fish. I can give 4 stars for it.
However, the chef tried his best to help us choosing the plates, and the waiter was very friendly.
I guess it was not the right time...
Read moreTo be totally fair with you it's been difficult to find a bad place to eat in Portugal, but this charming, almost vintage-style restaurant made my weekend most enjoyable. I suggest ordering an aperitif like a glass of wine as the food takes a little while, but the wait is worth every minute. Tasty and large portions. Really well done Brazilian picanha ao ponto. Very well politely served. tip: They have the menu in English, but I suggest knowing a little Portuguese just to honor the hard work of this team. Thank you for...
